Hotel Del Corso

The only positives I can give you are the location (handily located at the end of the main street in Taormina, so everywhere is accessible from it), and the views in the breakfast room are great.

Great location, right by the major parking garage.

It is in a wonderful location, although it will never be completely quiet anywhere in an Italian town!

And I would NEVER set foot in the Hotel Del Corso again.

We travelled with our two kids, aged 5 & 6, and the Del Corso happily squeezed us into a triple room where we simply lifted the top mattress off the single bed to create an ad hoc extra bed.

However, the rooms are so dingy that for the first time ever I actually complained about the room we were first shown and demanded to be moved.

We had booked a double room and the room was clearly set out as a twin, there were loads of mosquitos in the room, and the bathroom was grim - plastic curtain.

On the way down the short hallway you could hear a dog squeling from one room and someone else using the toilet in another room - lovely.

The bathroom was a browny colour, the toilet seat was broken and the tiny shower was all stained.

We prefer to eat at side street restaurants than the main ones.

A delicious breakfast buffet is served on a terrace overlooking Mt Etna.

The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, and packed us a breakfast when we took an early train to Syracuse.

The staff are corteous and helpful, breakfast is fine.

Breakfast is fine, but you have the impression that the "until" 10 means just that.

The staff were at least OK, and one in particular was wonderful.

Most importantly - do not book this hotel - it is horrendous and the staff/owners are some of the rudest people I have ever come accross.

So we arrived there and met a girl at the reception desk who was never tought how to smile.

However this was met with a big rant from the receptionist and saying that we'd have to pay 3 NIGHTS!

The lift is tiny and rather old-fashioned, but it works.

We later found out that there was in fact a lift but the girl didn't feel it was necessary to point this out.
