Hotel Cristallo Verona - 维罗纳

This place is not an awful place, just quirky, out of the way, and not loaded with the kinds of amenities that a hotel in this location ought to have in order to draw people away from the higher priced but much more convenient hotels in Verona.

It was a bit out of the way, however, the bus stop is 20 meters away and it takes you directly to the center of Verona and to the train station.

Also, the first bus to run on Sunday isn't until after 2 p.

The shower was square (no bathtubs--I rarely found bathtubs throughout my travels in Italy) and the doors to it opened from the corner.

They slid back about halfway, leaving barely enough room to get through.

So when you go into your room, you have to lock yourself in using the key.

We enjoyed the hotel and our meal in the restaurant.

Was unable to explore the hotel in much detail, breakfast was excellent.

I can't tell you how the hotel's restaurant was.

The other problem with this hotel is that for some reason its restaurant was closed on the Saturday night I was there.

The nearest restaurant to the hotel is about 15 minutes away by foot.

What makes this such a problem is that they do not offer any shuttle service to Verona, and the public transportation system (efficient and widespread, as it is in much of Italy), works on limited operation hours.

Verona's was the most expensive cab service I found in Italy.

Like nearly all hotels in Italy, you don't take your key with you during the day--you leave it with the front desk.

And even if you do have a car, for some inexplicable reason they think that they can attract business by charging for parking!
