• Best hotel in Cartagena

  This is the most beautiful hotel I've ever stayed in, and one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. What could beat staying in a gorgeously renovated 14th-century convent? You walk through a low, original brick archway and are immediately greeted by a bouquet of birds of paradise flowers taller than yourself. The rest of the stay lives up to this first impression. I can't say enough about this place. It was the location of our honeymoon and I think it set the scene for a lifetime of romance. p.s. You must try the casuela de mariscos in the restaurant.

  It has an excellent location in one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the world. The hotel has great amenities and excellent attention to detail. Service from the concierge, front desk, porters and restaurant staff was consistently excellent. The roof pool terrace has a breathtaking view to the old city, new city and ocean (Caribbean Sea actually). The gym and sauna facilities of the standard you would expect for a top quality hotel.

  The room had mold on the roof due to the humidity and the room itself was not all that clean.

  After an hour of arguing with their resident Manager, they finally decided to give me a room.

  We spent the majority of our time lounging at the pool with the attentive staff tending to our every need. Our room was large enough to be comfortable and had the authentic feel of the culture, while at the same time feeling modern with a nice bathroom.

  They put me in a luxurious suite with a fantastic view of the old city. The hotel has a nice pool on the rooftop with beautiful sea and city views.

  The marble bathroom is very large with great towels, robes, slippers, and a rainfall shower. The rooftop pool and sunbathing decks were fabulous! Comfortable chaises, attentive staff, and a 360 degree view of Cartagena. You will need to brush-up on your Spanish since most of the staff do not speak English, but nevertheless, they are most courteous.

  The Hotel's location is excellent. Hotel Rooms were really first class, breakfast more than adequate and plentiful, and staff quite helpful.

  I had booked the room through Booked. Eventually, after several phone calls, we got things straightened out, but it was a real pain, and it sullied what was otherwise a wonderful stay.

  Rooms cool, and characterful, set around 2 attractive peaceful courtyards with constantly flowing water. The rooftop pool gave fantastic views over the churches, rooftops and sea beyond and caught any available breezes. Breakfast was excellent with local speciallities as well as more conventional fare, and the hotel bar was on one of the most lively squares in the town so you could enjoy street shows whilst sipping your marguerita.
