This hotel is located around an 11th-century cathedral and has breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast. It was once the palace of the Marqis d'Afflitto and is a romantic spot. The staff is amicable, the rooms are spacious and have balconies and amazing views of the ocean. There's a lovely pool area, three restaurants, and a cocktail lounge for guests to enjoy.

Overview

Hotel Caruso, a five-star hotel, is located on the cliffs near the Amalfi Coast. The medieval style of the building and the luxurious amenities inside make this hotel one of the best near the Mediterranean sea. A transfer is provided from the airport and the railway station by any transport you like (from the car to helicopter).

The 48 elegant and spacious rooms and suites are equipped according to last word in technical achievements and provided with brandy amenities. Free Wi-Fi is a part of the offer.

Mediterranean cuisine prepared by the best chefs is served in two restaurants, one of which, Belvedere restaurant, works only in the summer. Several bars (near the pool and Caruso restaurant) are open till the last visitors who can enjoy different beverages and light snacks.

The wellness packages include swimming pool, spa treatments, massages, and fitness center. Though golf courses and tennis courts are not at the hotel territory, the hotel staff provides the transfer to them where you can enjoy the play.

The 48 spacious rooms and suites in Neapolitan style have the unique atmosphere. There are three types of the rooms, namely double room village view (ideal for the families; king-sized bed), double room superior (garden or village view, a king-sized bed or two singles), and double room deluxe sea view (terrace or balcony, a king-sized bed or two singles). The suites are as following: superior suite, suite deluxe, and exclusive suite.

Services for additional costs, organized in your room, include a bottle of champagne, elegant bouquet of flowers, and Neapolitan sweets.

The standard amenities include safe, cable and satellite TV, DVD, free Wi-Fi, local and international calls, mini-bar, coffee- and tea-making machines, a daily newspaper, and fresh flowers. PlayStation is at your service upon request; private fax is offered in all suites. All necessary toiletries are in the bathrooms, which have separate bath and shower stall, double vanity basins. In-room massages and treatments are available upon request.

Dining options

The Hotel Caruso offers its guests two restaurants: Caruso Restaurant (for up to 90 guests) and Belvedere Restaurant (up to 80 guests; social celebrations can be organized, then it can accommodate up to 200 people; open only in the summer). The cuisine is Mediterranean.

The beverages are served from 10.30am to 7pm and light lunches - from 1pm to 4 pm at the Poolside Bar. The cocktail and piano bar is open from 10am to midnight; here, you can enjoy the play of the pianist from 7pm to the last visitor.

In-room dining is also possible: breakfast - from 7am to 11.30am, all day dining - from 11.30am to 12am, and night menu is available till 7am.

Leisure

All relaxation services are made at top level. So, if you enjoy swimming in the pool, you will be offered fruit, iPod with your favorite music. The up-to-date equipment is in the fitness centre, where the qualified personal trainer can help you train.

Golf courses are available in about 30km from Ravello, and tennis courts are only five minutes from the hotel.

You can enjoy the landscape from above taking the helicopter tour with a stop with lunch in a local restaurant, where you can not only taste the famous traditional dishes, but also visit the archaeological sites.

Getting there

The hotel is located near the Mediterranean sea (only in 5km) and 350m above the sea level on a cliff top. If you arrive to Naples International Airport (65km), please note that you can order helicopter transfer to Hotel Caruso. Otherwise, you need drive about 60 minutes.

The train station is not near, in 64km (Naples Central Railway Station). The trains from big Italian cities (Venice, Rome, Milan etc) arrive to it.

Getting around

The hotel has a good system of transfer and shuttle service. Those who arrive to the airport will be provided with the helicopter transfer. Free shuttle service from/to Positano and Amalfi are offered everyday from 9am to 7pm. You get to Capri and Ischia by the ferry from Amalfi or Sorrento.

All in all a wonderful stay and restaurant disappointing. The bartenders, waiters, housekeepers, all fantastic, very professional and accomodating, excellent facilities.

Very, very expensive for food and in my view poor value, staff made our trip one we will never forget.

The views are incredible and the town of Ravello is sweet and small. The setting is spectacular, the prices are reasonable and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are also large is a nice surprise in Italy and the antipasti bar is perfection, fresh pizza wonderful.

We upgraded to a junior suite and the view from our room was equally wonderful, this hotel experience was one of the best I have ever had, particularly the concierge staff were helpful in every way imaginable. The food was excellent and lunch by the pool was also great, served by the delightful Carlo.
