Hotel Borg Reykjavik - 雷克雅維克

The location couldn't be better - located on the old city square, you are only a short walk from all the action.

It was ideally and centrally located so we couldnt have asked for a better location.

You couldn't ask for a better location, set in a square very close to the harbour, the old town and the main street.

As to the downsides, our room was a little noisy due to the central location and the staff, whilst very friendly, were a little flakey (they forgot to book our taxi which made for a rather hurried trip to the bus station to get to the airport).

Before we even arrived in Iceland, I emailed the Borg on several occasions to organise a taxi to meet us at the airport and take us to the Blue Lagoon (which is unmissable, by the way).

The bedroom and en suite were excellent and the bed the most comfortable that we have ever slept in.

Room – We stayed in a suite with a king bed for 3 nights – Sun-Wed.

Compared to neighboring rooms, the bathroom in Room 411 is made a little smaller by the presence of the building’s elevator shaft, but it was still large enough to comfortably accommodate one person.

Bed was great and jets in the bath were fab too!

The lobby is tiny, and to get to some of the guest rooms one has to go through a passage and what looks like a service elevator, but the room made up for all that - quite wonderful.

We did not order room service, eat at the hotel’s restaurant, or use the hotel’s morning breakfast service, so we cannot speak to those points.

Finally, outside the door is loads of restaurants including a fantasic tapas restaurant right round the corner.

There is also a very good looking bar and restaurant, for which I read good reviews.

Restaurants are expensive - we went to the Indian restaurant, had 2 courses and 4 beers and it was £180 for the 2 of us!

The breakfast in the ground floor ‘Silfur’ restaurant was absolutely first rate: a great selection of quality foods including a wide range of breads, cereals and cooked breakfast staples (bacon, scrambled eggs, etc.

We loved the front desk staff, especially Kristin the Concierge, who went out of their way to make everything perfect for our group - especially given our friends were getting married during our brief stop there.

The location was the best bit - the art deco style was carried out well throughout the Hotel, the reception staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms ovr the square were very hot due to the sun on that side.

The reception staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was an enjoyble one.

On the plus side, the location was central and a short walk from everything in the city, the reception staff were helpful and happy to book excursions for you.

The lobby was a lot older than the rest of the hotel but the finishing looked original (wood pannelling etc.

It was much more welcoming than a harsh, all white, glass and steel lobby you seem to get at so many other hotels these days.

Parking meter outside (free on Sunday) and cheap anyway.

The room was large enough for two friends, great view of the park, and very, very clean.

The bathroom was spotless - all black, gold and white, and the shower itself.

The hotel is elegant and clean, the style is Art Deco, the bathrooms are fabulous.

The all-new bathroom, with a clean, black-and white color scheme (which is dulled a bit in my photos) and beautiful new fixtures, was particularly nice.

The room was very clean and all of the staff were really helpful and polite.
