Come for a drink on the roof deck, as it really does have a great perspective not seen elsewhere in Playa hotels, but for the money, there are so many better (and quieter options), once the gimmick wears off.
These are nice touches, but not when they come with a price tag - in a hotel of this price range we would expect that if such items are left in the room at all, then they are for the guest's use free of charge.
I can't say enough about this hotel, its location and amenities.
Loved the design and attention to detail, and great location in the middle of it all in Playa del Carmen.
Its central location means your only a few minutes walk away from just about anything, including the beach!
Great location on Quinta Avenida, right in the heart of everything.
Our cabbie from the airport did not know where the hotel was.
Despite some true design ingenuity (saw handles as bathroom door knobs, under bed sliding suitcase drawers), the hotel room was VERY basic (nowhere to sit other than the bed (or the toilet, i guess) with limited hot water.
The shower/bath and bed in our room would not be easy to get in and out of - check if there are other rooms which are more suitable.
Opposite the bed on the other side of the room is a floor to cieling window/sliding door which either opens to the street or lounge.
It was interestingly decorated - slightly 'clinical', but with a few quirky touches (flippers under the bed, a Polaroid camera chained to the bed - film for it was available in the room at an extra cost).
Our room looked onto the courtyard, the bed is elevated & super comfy, there is a big book for you to draw & scribble in & look at other peoples drawings & scribbles, they even supply a polaroid camera for which you can buy film (also in the room).
There is a restaurant at the hotel and breakfast is available (surcharge) - we didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food.
We had breakfast at the restaurant once and it was pretty good -- the dinner menu looked much better and the food smelled terrific.
Great drinks at the bar (there was some cucumber-flavored one that everyone should try) and also delicous food at the restaurant downstairs.
A good crowd -- young people, families -- music, great bar/restaurant.
The whole design of the hotel is so cool - the rooms, the entrance, the elevator, the restaurant, the rooftop bar - everything was perfect!
The front desk staff are incrediby knowledgable about the local restruants however, and are more than happy to suggest something to suit your mood, whatever it may be.
The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, the food was good, the pool was great.
We had amazing seafood and superior service there.
We were thrilled when we arrived to see such unique decor and great service.
The roof terrace did not dissapoint, with the big round tanker/pool & the bar staff are lovely & the cocktails are fab & really not that expensive at all.
We walked in to the unique open-air lobby and were greeted by a CUTE guy who was charming and friendly as he checked us in.
They'll bring you beer and drinks in the pool and you'll never want to get out.
