This luxury hotel Hotel 1898 is in the building that used to be the Philippines Tobacco Company, which business ran into hard times when Spain lost control of the Philippines in 1898. The deluxe rooms and suites all have terraces and are quite elegant. There are also smaller rooms available and an outdoor pool that is open to all guests. The hotel’s high style is underscored by the parquet floors and lovely furniture. Some of the most expensive suites, which can run as 1600 Euro/per night, include access to a private indoor pool.

Hotel 1898 is named after the year in which the last Spanish colonies – Cuba and the Philippines – gained independence. It has a gym, outdoor pool with solarium, spa, dry sauna, steam bath, therapeutic showers, massage and treatment cabins, indoor pool with a massage bench using micro-bubbles and water beds.
