The Hotel did not have our booking when we arrived. I dont know what would have happened if the hotel was fully booked.

The reception was very friendly and efficient. This is important after a long tiring flight.Genuine effort to make one's stay comfortable. Extra blankets given quickly for an extra guest. Generous breakfast that could be brought up to the apartment if one wished.Light evening meal and free coffee all day in lobby. Room quiet, lovely view and well lighted. Just what a hotel should be. i was really impressed with all staff - especially as we had to be moved on first night as hotel was full - we arrived at 9pm. check in staff - i do not know her name - was very professional and calm - i could not complain about any aspect of way she did her difficult job - unlike others who checked in at same time

it was a great location for a tourist - i am from UK it was also very friendly

The free meals were a wonderful surprise. Saved us a bunch of money. The beds were also very comfortable.

Picture quality of the TVs were awful.....alot of static.....hard to see picture. No oven in the suites.

The customer service provided by the staff. They could train people on this; they were welcoming from the beginning of our stay until the end. No one ever acted impatient; our questions were their top priority at that time. It was like being at DisneyWorld. Thank you so much; we had a terrific experience. And the food was great! Get bigger bath mats; pool area could be spruced up.

We liked the location best. This hotel is close to everything and very suitable for families. This hotel has an amazing buffet breakfast which is included in the cost of the room. The porters were also very helpful giving directions to everything Chicago has to offer.

Maid service did not make up beds on 2nd day, however they did empty the trash and change the towels.

Comfort of having breakfast daily and dinner a well, the friendliness of the staff and the hotel's location.

Only king sized beds were available, there were no 2-bed suites in the hotel.

Breakfast (each day)/Dinners (weeknights) included - full meals in a real dining room. Not cramped for space! Decent if not deluxe food. Free wifi. Central location. Opening windows, and central control for a/c - not a silly 'box' tacked onto an exterior wall. Quiet interior. Kitchen with dishes, etc. Full fridge. Housekeeping runs the dishwasher! Comfy bed. 2 TVs. Think of it as a small apartment. Good value.

Odd note: kitchen has two burners, no pans (?) What would you use the burners for? Fair amount of street noise, especially Saturday night. Could not get higher floor - when the next day a walk-in got the 19th while I stood at the desk with the very same person manning the counter. You give up the 'grand lobby' of competitors / but gain the ability to shut the door to your bedroom; a proper trade off.

I consider hs my "Home Away from Home" when I am in Chicago. There is an overall friendly and laid back atmosphere that I love.

the location was outstanding, and the bellmen/doormen were terrific

breakfast food items were mediocre at best, and there were so many children it was challenging to get an elevator at times. also the facility is rather worn down.

As a matter of fact this is a review concerning both hilton Garden Inn and front desk at Homewood: when we arrived, around 9,00 pm at Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago-Downtown, we were told the rooms were not available due to overbooking. As a consequence we have been proposed by the front desk assistant to go to hilton Garden Inn. As I complained about this this very annoying mismatch with Homewood Suites front desk, we have been given the rooms for free. We appreciated this. In the end we walked our way down two blocks and arrrived to Hilton Garden Inn.

Hilton Garden Inn rooms were comfortable and we have been given rooms that should have been quiet at the 20th floor. Unfortunately enough, some university party was going on somewhere in the building and there have been a lot of jolly good fellows running back and forth in the corridors, shouting pretty wildly until 4 am..

The daily buffet breakfast was good, and the dinner that comes with the room from Mon-Thur was a pleasant surprise. I would like to commend Connie (restaurant/kitchen) for her excellent people's skill. She was simply the nicest person I have had the privilege to meet and speak to in my entire stay in your hotel. Every morning when I went for breakfast, she is always there to greet me with a beautiful smile. She made me feel welcome and is always ready to serve. The concierge staff were not too bad. Everyone was generally pleasant and helpful. There were a few that looked fierce and they would have done better had they put on a smile. There was a concierge staff that I would like to appreciate but I overlooked getting his name (I hope you can trace him). The second evening in the city and my daughter and I wanted to go out to meet some friends for dinner and we asked him for direction and estimated distance. He not only guided us on how to get there, he also gave us the heads up on the area and reminded us (repeatedly) to not walk the streets after dinner because he was concerned for our safety. We have never had that kind of concern shown on my safety by hotel staff all my years of travelling, and I thought to myself, "how sweet of him to watch out for our safety". Overall, the concierge staff were very helpful. They seem to know everything! :)

It would have been better if dinner was extended to 8 or 9pm as I had difficulty getting back to the hotel in time on a couple of evenings. The front desk staff whom I checked with in the morning agreed to arrange for my dinner to be packed and held for me forgot. When I called to ask for my dinner to be delivered at 9pm on the first night, the reception staff informed me that she would arrange with the kitchen 'now" and she apparently did not realize that the kitchen was closed by then. Unknown to me then that your kitchen closes at 7pm (I learned about it the next morning), my daughter and I waited until 10pm and decided to not bother and went straight to bed. I did receive an apology message from the staff on my phone the next evening when I got back. The guest laundry room is too small - could hardly move with 2 persons and our laundry.
