I found this hotel at a discounted price on Booked.net.
It's not the Hilton, but for the price I think it's definately worth it especially if you don't spend a lot of time in the hotel.
The hotel people cannot spend money doing major renovations because they have actual tenants living there.
Rate of $116 is a Good Value for This Area of LA and the hotel property has a public laundry that is also clean.
The location is great, close to all the tourist attractions.

The breakfasts are fresh and delicious (not the pitiful excuse for breakfast that is served at many B&B's), and the staff is the most accomodating we've ever encountered - - - anywhere!
You can eat breakfast by the pool of the Magic Castle or take it back up the hill to your room.
Food at continental breakfast is not restocked (first come first served even though they say it's until 9).
Bristol Farms supermarket is not far away and great food/deli for the bowl.

The first time I went, I was driving an American automatic car for the first time, and the car parking is a little scary!
They offer very accesible shuttle service back and forth and we used that a couple of times to go back and forth to the pool which was very nice.
There was no lobby at the parking lot so we drove out and realized we had gone in an exit to the club.
Also there's no wi-fi internet on the hill, and again you have to go to the Magic Castle for that.
