We wanted a hotel within walking distance of downtown without paying the crazy downtown hotel prices.
This hotel was an excellent deal for the price.
Although there are other hotels that are located more directly in the downtown harbor area - all of them were more than twice the price.
View was great and this hotel was an excellent deal for the price.
As far as location, the Holiday Inn by the Bay can't be beat, so close to everything.
Great location to the waterfront area, knowledgeable friendly staff, bar with a large selection of beers on tap.
My husband and I chose the hotel because of the location.
Most useful for me is that they had a shuttle bus which would bring you to/from airport, bus station etc but also to take guests to downtown/waterfront etc.
When the walk to dinner and such were long, the shuttle bus was willing to take us places if they were not tied up with airport runs.
The room was very comfortable, especially the bed which was one of the most comfortable hotel beds that I have ever slept in.
Our room was a good size, beds were very comfortable, bathroom was cute and very clean.
Very nice room, lots of light, comfy bed.
Double bed room as no king available, 5th floor, bay view.
We checked in at 8PM went to our room which was very nice on the 11 th floor, King bed over looking the harbor just what we wanted!
We did not eat in their restaurant but did have a burger and drink in the bar area.
Free coffee and tea in the restaurant (x5)- granted, this would necessitate purchasing breakfast in the restaurant, but the prices weren't bad.
Kids eat free for breakfast lunch and dinner.
We did not eat breakfast in the hotel but walked a few minutes downhill (straight towards the bay) to Becky’s Dinner where the food was very good, and cheap.
Short walking distance to Old Port and all the cute shops in Portland, not to mention plenty of restaurants, and a movie theater.
There was a mix-up with the reservation but the front desk staff was gracious in resolving it.
When I departed I did mention to the front desk personnel that I paid way too much for a premium room, to have to beg and wait for housekeeping service.
We didn't use them, but there was also a good sized indoor pool, saunas, and a gym (small but efficient).
The pool and gym looked excellent, and indeed they proved to be.
The sauna was a pleasure as well, microwave came in handy for food for our 6 month son and the heated indoor pool was great.
The hotel has a great business center with free computer internet access as well as wireless access.
Wireless internet was also available for free.
The room was a good size, super clean, with no problems.
The room was clean and very well maintained.
Rooms are clean, free drink in the bar and the elevators are quick.
Our room was nice, clean - nothing extremely fancy but comfortable.
The room was absolutely spotless; kudos to the cleaning staff of the 8th floor.
