Holiday Inn Durango

I give this a four star rating for one reason: Location, location, location.

In a nutshell, when price, location, and the fact they take dogs are combined we find it a good place to stay for a few nights.

While the Hotel and the facilities are reasonably clean and the location is good, they had a real problem the night we stayed there with the characters around the Hotel and the lack of security they have in their parking lot.

In a great location to Main Ave shops, living near Durango and nice lobby area.

Stayed for a full week at this fantastic hotel location was incredible two lovely girls to greet us every morning while getting coffee and our daily paper!

The service here was great and the bed was very comfortable.

The view on the river side was nice, the hotel room was exceptionally clean and the beds were comfortable.

Ask for a room away from the renovations (as they are renovating half the hotel rooms now).

The hotel rooms have been completely refurbished with new carpeting, bedspreads, shower/bath curtains and paint and the customary amenities (coffee, shampoo, etc).

There is no breakfast provided but there is an "Applebees" restaurant on site, that (in my opinion) serves better than average fast food.

Shower worked fine and applebees restaurant / bar was good.

Also, be aware that kids' meals are not free if you do take out either…we wanted breakfast to go so we could take it and eat it on the train, but then kids' meals are not free.

Applebee's Restaurant is attached and has a very broad menu and bar.

Excellent position on edge of Durango which is a lovely old western town with plenty of shops and restaurants, plus the Durango and Silverton railway and museum.

Moreover the staff was friendly and helpful, the manager on check-in was pleasant.

When I mentioned this to the front desk, they were very appologetic and took 15% off my bill, which was very nice.

Best value for the and great service all the way around.

The staff was very friendly and courteous.

It was nice to have the view of the Amimas river behind the parking lot.

The second nite was nice - still the parking lot was fine.

We had no experience with "hobos", panhandlers, or loiterers canvassing cars in the parking lot.

Very nice, clean, comfortable, quiet room for family of 5 with 3 kids under 12.

Room perfectly acceptable and clean, very cheap polyester sheets.

The rooms are very clean but no refrigerator or microwave.

The staff are nice and friendly, the rooms are very clean.

The room was clean although a friend commented on his room having a smoky smell.
