Very good value is the lunch which seems poular with non hotel residents & is priced around £27.
What marvellous value for a top class hotel - lunch at £28.
Very comfortable hotel, excellent country house ambience and all this comes at a high price.
This hotel is faded in places and our en suite beathroom did not match the accompanying price tag.
The location is superb, the setting is beautiful and elegant country house that takes you back to a bygone age.

Our room was the best room I have ever stayed in with huge gothic style windows and an upper floor gallery with a massive bed!
The bed linen was old and faded and didn't fit the size of the bed, the bathroom had mould and missing plaster on the ceiling, and the windows were covered with flies.
We were in the Heart of Oak room which has a huge but very comfortable carved oak four poster bed with lots of other nice touches in the room.
My room was in the main building and very spacious with all the normal amenities and the bed was nice and firm so a good night's sleep was never a problem.
We were in the " tisane" room (where dogs are welcome) and loved it (airy,very spacious,comfy bed) just sorry we could not enjoy the private enclosed patio with sunloungers due to the weather.
Nice rooms, large bar and the staff were very helpful & polite particularly the gentleman that carried my luggage & was also then the waiter for breakfast.
My wife adored the evening cuisine of leading chef Alan Ford and the breakfast was similarly immaculate.
At each meal I felt well cared for and doted upon, while dining on beautifully prepared and presented cuisine.
The food in the restaurant is excellent and the midweek lunch menu was particularly good value, you get an aperitif with your canapes, 3 courses with plenty of choices, a glass of wine and coffee - all for under £30.
We enjoyed a fabulous meal in the Restaurant - each dish presented beautifully and the quality of the food and wine was outstanding.
The service throughout our one night stay was excellent and the staff were very warm.
The reception and restaurant staff are very good and the chef is excellent.
The fitness centre and pool are not particularly appealing and were deserted although the golf clubhouse was busy.
It could do with a steam room/sauna and an indoor pool.
Wine was fantastic, the pool were quite adequate.
I also found it a pleasant surprise to have wireless broadband available at no cost, in fact I'm submitting this review from the hotel at this moment.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff asigned to us couldn't have been more helpful and the rooms are large and clean.
No tea/coffee making facilities in the room so when I called reception and requested a "hospitality tray", it arrived about 3 minutes later with all fresh condiments - none of those horrible long life milk carton thingies!
Didn't have tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but when I called down they sent me up a hospitality tray with all the things I needed - including fresh not UHT milk - fridge in the room to keep it in.
