Once at the hotel, we were given our room-next to the elevators and to the cleaning closet-a very noisy location for a family checking in at 2:30am and hoping to sleep in.

The location is terrible, but close to the airport.

Transportation into NYC is about $22 per person round trip by airport bus or NJ Transit subway train.

The area directly off of the turnpike is not a busy commercial area or well lit and the transportation from the hotel to the airport is easy by car or you can take a taxi.

The rooms were very clean, the bed super comfortable, the bathroom was bright, modern, and clean, and best of all you did not hear any noise from the airport or routes 1 and 9.

My room was a standard double bed with a half window, view of the airport.

The room had a desk and chair, an armoire with TV and drawers, a seating area with a round glass-topped table and 2 attractive chairs, and a comfortable bed.

My gripe is the cost of food at the hotel restaurant - you are essentially at their mercy because of the lack of local restaurants.

We ate lunch in restaurant, food was good, waiter nice, but slow.

The breakfast restaurant was expensive for the buffet (which they try to push).

Good restaurant on lobby level for breakfast, i would stay here again for quick access to the airport and front desk staff knowledgeable and courteous.

Front desk staff insults my wife for not informing them that we had extended our reservation, and then questions whether she is actually staying in the room.

I enjoyed my one night stay at the Newark Airport Hilton, mostly because every staff member there was friendly and helpful, from the airport shuttle driver to the desk staff, restaurant staff, and housekeeping.

The main meal of $33, $12 appetizer, $6 bottle of water, service charge, gratuity and taxes explain why the lady in the elevator was carrying a big bag of take-out (presumably she paid $8 parking for the privilege of leaving and coming back).

Those witha lot of luggage should be aware that to get to the hotel via its shuttle (which runs every 20 minutes) one must take the tram system from the terminal where you arrive to the P4 parking/ground transportation center.

The free wireless internet is good addition.

It is true that the rooms and the hollways are little rundown and quite old looking, but they were very clean so that' good enough for me.

The hotel lobby has pretty nice decor, the staff is very friendly helped us book the NY tours and rooms are very clean and comfortable.
