The hotel has several restaurants, but the prices are of course way more expensive than in the local restaurants nearby (outside the hotel).
Well lets just say compared with the rest of quito this hotel is overpriced, only stayed here because we had a discount and still had to pay $91.
In addition, the restaurants in the hotel are REALLY overpriced compared to what you can get anywhere else in Quito.
So, if you're spending money on a nice hotel in Quito, I'd definitely recommend this one, since we got a club room for $165/night, with the 4th night free ( a current Latin America Visa promo).
The Marriott is more isolated in terms of location; the Sheraton Four Points is close to a big mall and the La Carolina Park, so a good alternative, although I do not like the food there as much.
The location of the hotel was also very convenient to shopping, resturants, and the sights.
I was with my husband and toddler - its location across from the El Ejido park was ideal.
The reason I'm hesitant about non taxi drivers is that we met another tourist who was robbed from the "taxi" right downtown.
We took a taxi to old town for $2 and walked back.
Her colleague then upped it to a one-bedroom suite, with 2 flat-panel TVs, a dining room, a living room with a leather sofa, and a nice, big, bathroom.
Since there weren't any non-smoking Club Floor rooms with 2 beds available, she offered me a Junior Suite (though for $20 more).
The hotel was consistent, safe, secure with safe deposit boxes, and the thing i appreciated most was i could leave laundry and the next time i checked in, it would be folded and laid out on the bed.
Wonderful staff, great workout room, comfy, quiet rooms.
Rooms were nicely decorated with down comforters.
The coffee shop restaurant served a very large breakfast buffet, and we also enjoyed light lunches/sandwiches there.
Breakfast is available in the lounge, too, with a decent spread of a few hot items, and plenty of breads, meats, fruit, juices, and cereals-- though it's not as extensive as in the ground-floor restaurant, which would cost $15/person.
We ate one afternoon Sunday brunch in the downstairs restaurant, which was stunning--including a crepe station, drinks (beer and wine, 2 glasses free), pasta station, grilled meat station, Ceviche bar, and lots of desserts and salads.
Food was excellent with good menu's, bar, and was across from a park and good walking neighborhoods.
I prefer the location to that of the Swisshotel, b/c it is more central - can do lots of walking in the Mariscal area, including shops & restaurants.
Upon returning to hotel, the Concierge would not apoligize and upon informing hotel manager, his only comment was "he is one of my best employees".
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly from the executive lounge to the concierge.
But our stay was an excellent one: Friendly service from every staff member, including in the restaurants, Club Lounge, room service, and housekeeping.
I would recommend this Hotel in every respect - EXCEPT FOR THE RECEPTION STAFF - THEY ARE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL.
This is a very nice hotel in terms of the rooms, the furnishings, the pool, the spa, but it is completely soulless and you may as well be in any big city, because you get no sense of being in Quito.
I did not use the Hotel's shuttle, but cab rides were no more than $2 to any of the main sights during my stay.

The rooms were really nice, the staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English, and a solo traveller can feel reasonably secure. The location was also a plus, right across from a lovely park with weekend craft markets as well as close to the theatre and museum.
