Editorial review:

Built in 1718 and comprised of three original Georgian houses, Hazlitt's Hotel is the former home of essayist William Hazlitt and all 23 rooms are named after former visitors or residents of the house. Bedrooms are luxuriously appointed, with mahogany four-poster beds, Victorian claw-foot tubs, excellent fabrics and genuine antiques. There is no elevator.

We loved Hazlitts, Comfortable; efficient and helpful staff.Central location within walking distance of Theatre land, China Town, British Museum, National Gallery, Oxford St and Regents St etc, etc. Interesting and slightly quirky period interior, lots of history about the hotel. Free wi fi ; 24 hour room service ; Ipod dock; TV's in both rooms of our suite; honesty bar in the Library for those who want more than the well stocked mini bar in the bedroom . Breakfast served in the room (or if you prefer in the Library). Ideal for those wanting to vist Shaftesbury Avenue, Trafalgar Sq area, shopping in central London or for aspiring writers.

We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to visit again for longer. If I was being picky I would say that TV reception was not perfect (my sister lives in London and has the same problem); breakfast, beautifully fresh and tasty, but no 'full english', (the bacon sandwich has our full recommendation though). Plenty of cafes/eateries etc within a few minutes walk and Cafe Italia is 24hrs, so no need to eat in if you do not wish to do so. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but 24hr room service is available.

The location was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. I loved the room, it was very comfortable and cosy. We didn't try the food but we did use the honesty bar. The hotel has loads of character and I'd certainly stay again.

There were no beverage making facilites, although I realise this is often the case in hotels with so many eateries on the doorstep.

The room was superb, a real 'period' treat. The guys at the front desk were polite, helpful and obviously very enthusiastic about the hotel. And why not, it's a real gem.

Our only minor gripe was that the bathroom although fully equipped was a little small.

Location was terrific. It couldn't be best. It's in the heart of Soho.

The first room we stayed was terrible. It was in a basement and the bathtub with a shower just flooded the whole bathroom. They offered us to change rooms and the second one was great!

Room comfort , staff , free computer and internet , honesty bar , character , position of hotel. The staff were particularly helpful and made sure we were looked after.. And never rushed us . very good breakfast in room.

Number of stairs.. But got used to them (our room was on the top floor)
