Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center Winston-Salem - Winston Salem

80% of our guests were coming in from out of town/state and the reception location was very convenient for a stay at the hotel.

Friendly staff, clean, pretty - good location in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.

We're both very demanding when it comes to a room's cleanliness and were amazed at just how spotless the room was, especially the bathroom!

Although we'd have prefered a king bed rather than double queens, it was still quite comfortable.

Pro's: The room was clean, the beds firm but comfortable, AC worked great.

The bed quality was poor - but that can be improved easily.

Note: There's no way to get from the front/conference area to a guest room without negotiating 6 stairs, so this is not to be considered an "accessible" facility.

Continental breakfast had a decent selection, and the restaurant is available if you want something nicer.

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was passable (although pineapple hadn't been cored and strawberries were very tired), but the conference catering was pretty sad.

The restaurant had been remodeled and the food was scrumptious, not like typical hotel food I've experienced in other hotels.

Then when asked for recommendation for dining, they only recommended their lobby restaurant, which as completely dead.

The breakfast was great, the Luncheon menu was delicious.

We found that the room service was great; meals were terrific and the staff was adorable!

The front desk staff were super friendly and cheerful.

I mean the lobby, the parking lot and the front entrance, I knew that I was not going to please before I even got to my room.

The elevators were prompt, moved fast and were very clean.

There's a beautiful outdoor pool which would be nice in-season.

Free wireless was definitely appreciated, as well as the amount of space and the size of the desk.

It was great to find easy to use wireless internet.

The rooms and facilities are clean although a little outdated.

The rates are reasonable, staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean.

On previous stays, I've always experienced courteous staff and clean rooms which has been my reason for returning whenever I'm in Winston Salem.
