Furthermore the hotel was luxurious and the price was quite reasonable so we got some to remind us of a great day.

This proved to be half the best price available on the hotel website, so it is definitely worth contacting the hotel by telephone.

Conveniently located and luxurious hotel in a stuuning location.

Close to the beach, a great break at a perfect location and the Slieve Donard is an old-fashioned luxury hotel that has kept up.

The location and views of the hotel are beautiful but sadly dining facilities are terrible.

Lovely grounds down to the sea, beautiful location at the foot of the Mourne mountains and there is no better place to stay in Newcastle.

If you are not driving however the nearest train station is Newry which is about a 35 minutes taxi drive through the mountains.

Our rooms were in the new section of the hotel and could not be faulted - huge, comfortable beds, lots of space in the room and great size of bathroom with super shower.

The rooms are class i had a room to myself which made it even better, the bathroom was the size of a small bedroom alone!

Two small bottles of water were left beside the bed but due to the heat of the rooms, they were luke warm.

The new bedrooms are large, fresh, well fitted out with fab 6 and half feet wide beds with great linen and comfy duvets, pillows, and wonderful view of the sea and mountains (depending on situation on bedroom), and a large plasma screen tv.

Our room was beautiful and had a very comfy bed.

We ate in the Percy French restaurant and to be honest this was the only down side of our weekend- the food was just plain boring and lacked any thought or imagination.

As with another reviewer we ate in the Percy French restaurant and were slightly disappointed with the food.

The restaurant were superb and dinner was close to £30 for meals pp.

Food in restaurant and staff were outstanding.

Only niggle was lack of wardrobe space - ok for a weekend but very small for 2 people for any longer) We ate in the main restaurant on Saturday night and the buffet was excellent.

Helpful Reception staff, lovely room and as 's a nice bar.

The staff were amazingly helpful, the room was furnished to a high standard and service in the restaurant was superb.

The spa was closed, however the receptionist bent over backwards and came back to us 10 minutes later with a little bottle of it - that's what I call service!

Reception staff at spa facilities are obnoxious all over anyway.

The Vitality pool (like a big jacuzzi) and the sauna have a view of the sea and the mountains.

The facilities of the swimming pool/spa area were excellent, the hotel provided a good location for exploring the surrounding countryside and the staff were exceedingly helpful.

Wonderful pool / gym area and good value.

I attended a wedding there about 2 years ago, and whilst the service was very friendly and bedrooms very clean I felt it lacked something.

    Wonderful pool / gym area and good value. Helpful Reception staff, lovely room and as 's a nice bar. Drink were extremely high, the complimentary spa facilities were excellent.

    The sea food chowder did not have much fish present, in fact the only dinner we did have was so bad.

    Excellent Location facilities were very good staff were accomodating and overall the stay was first class. Furthermore service was all of a high standard, the room was very nice and the food was lovely. Luxurious and the spa was fantastic.

    Had pleasant views of surrounding country side, hotel had a beautiful relaxing atmosphere especially in your drawing room and the staff absolutely amazing went out of their way to oblige. Additionally the bedrooms were lovely and the meal was excellent. The spa was very clean.

    Great walks around the area and i liked the whole ambience of the place. Very friendly staff and lovely spacious room. Breakfast was excellent, the pool facilities were good too.
