One issue we had was that we were solicited for money by a "broken down" motorist in the parking lot, but I can't hold that against the hotel.
Though this hotel was not horrible, given the cost, they are definitely not living up to the Hampton name.
The location was great to everywhere we needed to go in Austin.
The hallway carpet was old and dingy, and had giant, 4 foot wide stains every couple of feet.
The room was comfortable and my daughter enjoyed her sofa bed, although when it was open it was difficult to use the desk chair.
Rooms were clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The breakfast area was adequate, the bed was extremely comfortable and the outdoor pool was tiny.
Took a quick shower to wash off the travel funk and walked over to Chili's for dinner, then came back and settled into bed with the oh-so-convenient lap desk to read some stuff for Friday meetings.
Slept like a rock--the bed was that comfortable--and got off to a great start Friday morning.
Not a breakfast person but did get an "on the run" bag with banana, bottled water and cereal bar from the front desk.
Next door to a really good Chili's restaurant, where the manager was nice enough to give me my entire dinner *free* because they didn't have one item I ordered.
Caught the tail end of breakfast: rubbery eggs and dry biscuits.
The breakfast area was adequate and fully stocked.
Breakfast included the standard cold cereals and sweet breads, with an added touch of warm biscuits, sausage gravy, and pre-fabricated scrambled eggs portions that resemble a hockey puck , but tasted good.
Helpful service staff (we asked for a port-a-crib for our baby and someone brought it up promptly and then returned with a flat sheet a few minutes later).
Location was great, there's a place called Randall's that's pretty good and staff was very polite and helpfull.
Front desk was very helpful, on local places to eat, and how to get to them.
Aside from that, for those of you who care about fitness, the gym had a decent recumbent bike & elliptical machine but the treadmill was lousy--no cushioning and the settings were way off.
Very dim - you can open the curtains for more light but then the whole parking lot can see in.
The outdoor pool was tiny, didn't try it.
Free wi-fi internet in the rooms (didn't try it out)and free high-speed internet hook-ups in the lobby.
The staff really, sincerely try to keep the rooms clean.
