Halsingland Hotel Haines

The hotel has ambiance, and a unique location.

I was originally at the Fort Seward Bed and Breakfast which was inhospitable/overpriced with small rooms and a non-existent host.

We found the rooms to be clean and large, the furniture nice, and the beds comfortable.

The maid had already left for the day, so the front desk clerk gave us clean towels and made a pass at the bed, but the apology we got from management was distinctly half-hearted.

One day we had no hand towels, the next no bath mat, and the third day our room wasn't done at all!

Next time I’ll try a little bed & breakfast.

Had a great breakfast and dinners at The Lighthouse Restaurant.

Large room and the restaurant serves really fantastic food.

All that said, the hotel restaurant is superb for dinner, with excellent food and attentive service.

Fresh towels everyday and restaurant was also great.

Moreover the historical buildings now make the Halsingland hotel are clean and restaurant is very nice.

We also found the front desk staff to be bend-over backwards helpful with any problems, requests, or information.

The service from the staff was unremarkable in either the good or the bad sense.

A beautiful old hotel---sad, moved us to another building was better and great service manager Jeff gave us put me at ease.

Jeff and his staff went way out of thier way to make our visit.

Also, since we rented a car in Haines to drive to Fairbanks, we found having the car rental in the lobby to be very convenient as we headed out of town.

Relatively comfortable for the price we paid, the beautiful wood stove in the lobby and haines is a cool little town in an incomparable natural setting.

Worst of all, the housekeeping was lackadaisical.

Our room was clean and the food was absolutely fabulous.

Despite this, our room was clean and relatively comfortable for the price we paid, which was well below the posted price.

Don't be taken aback by the outside of the hotel; the rooms have been redone and are sparkling clean.
