If you can get a really good rate then it's probably worth it for the location, but don't expect a top quality hotel, or any sense of customer service.
The location is fabulous, and almost everything that one would want to see is within walking distance -- museums, churshes, and the wonderful Teatro Massimo, which we recommend.
There is a lot to walk to during the daytime because of the hotel's convenient location but (unlike New York) the streets become deserted at night.

5am and didn't feel up to disputing a bottle of mineral water before driving to the airport!
The rooms were very clean, large with a king bed & a nice size bath including a jacuzzi.
The room was huge with a big modern bathroom, comfortable large beds.

Although, the bathroom was large, the room was totally lack-luster.
The room had a window looking out into the building's small interior with the sound of water dripping loudly, hardly any daylight at all.
The biggest selling points of the hotel are its staff (always the no 1 thing in my book) and the fantastic rooftoop bar/terrace/restaurant.
Restaurant was well priced and breakfast was varied and well stocked (eggs and bacon).
The highlight is the rooftop bar/restaurant - possibly the best view in Palermo over St Caterina and the adjacent fountain and square.
The hotel has a roof top bar which is excellent and the breakfast was very generous.
The rooftop bar/lounge/whatever areas were fantastic.
The location is fabulous, nice stylish place in a city short of top drawer hotels and helpful staff at the front desk.
Suggestions by the Front Desk staff for restaurants were helpful and good.

Trust me, our vacation would have been wonderful if the service, staff and cleanliness were as good as the Hotel Villa Diodoro in Taormina.
Internet access free, the great bar tender Fabio and the staff retained their friendly disposition - especially the bartender / waiter trying to pour drinks in near darkness in the roof top restaurent.
For the price we paid, wonderful original art in the lobby and the staff was helpful and courteous.
Rooftop views from terrace spectacular on fine days, the hotel decor is at best pedestrian.
