Grand Oasis Marien Puerto Plata - 普拉塔港

The music was good, and the location of the disco, I though, was great, as it was located in the lobby of the resort away from the rooms, so if you were tired and wanted to sleep you were not disturbed by the noise.

Great location - Facing beach, right next to pool.

In summary, I would visit skip this location but would go to the same hotel at a different location, maybe the caribbean coast.

Airport & Taxi - First of all, we flew into Santiago airport because we could not find a direct flight into Puerto Plata from NYC.

This turned out fine, as we had set up a taxi, Isaira Tours, to meet us at the airport.

The wedding package is reasonable (about $1000 US for ceremony, cake, champagne, pictures, video, judge, bouqet, couples massage, room upgrade, breakfast in bed the day after the wedding, and a night in their honey moon suite, decorated gazebo, etc.

We received a room upgrade for the whole week so we had two bathrooms, king sized bed, two balconies, living area, 2 television sets!

As I read in many reviews , we too were given a room with two twim beds although we asked for a king bed.

Each room had either one superking (6' wide) or 2 double beds (4'6) and had TV, coffee facilities, ceiling fan, minibar (with some drinks included in our all-inclusive package), full bathroom and balcony.

Rooms: very nice, large, water, mini bar, coffee maker, large bathroom, working tv, nice patio, wonderful view of ocean and pool.

The food was fantastic, that said we ate every night in one of the three A La Carte restaurants, but we had breakfast each day in the buffet and lunch at mango's beech bar/restaurant which also offers a good choice of food.

We did have breakfast there everyday but ended up going to the snack bar for lunch and the restaurants for dinner every night.

There is one buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then three additional restaurants available for dinner.

Food was great, we tended to eat in the buffet restaurant for breakfast and lunch and in the evening we went to the italian or mexican (There is a creperie but we didnt feel the need to go here so cant comment on that).

Food wise: I ate at three of the four restaurants and all served good to very good foods especially the Italian restaurant.

The staff at the front desk, the waitresses and waiters, and the maids were all very friendly and helpful, too.

The staff are friendly, although the front desk needs to be a little more focused on customer service.

All the staff, maids, waitresses, reception, pool cleaners etc very friendly.

Although separated a little bit from the lobby area, we were right on top of the beach and a very short walk to the pool.

TO DO: tennis, free lessons, beach volleyball, horseshoes, mini golf, giant chess, ping pong, basketball, adequate gym and Spa - additional.

Mini golf / beach volley ball / Aquarobics / also basketball, tennis, Spa and gym (rental charge for the last three i think) There was so much to do we didn't have time to try them all.

Also, I have to admit, the "Chocolate Friends" (is that the most un-PC name or what?

When we did get our room it was spotless (no hotel in North America I have been to has been this clean).

PLace is beautiful, grounds spotless, rooms clean and floors washed every day and also the balcony.

The hotel accomodation was clean and tidy with large spacious rooms.

The hotel was wonderful and staff extreamly helpful and friendly, they kept the gardens so tidy and the bedrooms, restaurants and pool were always kept clean and tidy with no rubbish around anywhere.

The staff at the restaurants / diners, nighly entertainers, the pool area, the bars and the rooms were always courteous, spotless, fun, and always helpful.
