  The Manchester grand is a beautiful hotel, but I do not understand how they can spend all the money they did building this place, and not making sure the rooms were more soundproof! The man at the desk made it sound like the room was a 'premium' one, aside from the view. That evening, I was able to har my neighbors on one side of me urinating in the toilet, brushing his teeth, and his conversations! In the other room, I eard the television, my neighbor's conversations,and even when he sneezed! The other thing I will never understand- and it happens at every hotel, is how housekeeping can allow the room doors to just slam behind them when entering & exiting rooms! The restaurant had good food, however the service was subpar.

  The pool was absolutely beautiful, the view from my room spectacular, and the food at the restaurants and from room service was above average hotel food. The service I received from the concierge and bell staff was also good. Right next to Seaside Village which is full of touristy shops and restaurants, and a short walk from the Gaslamp quarter, which has great shopping and excellent dining choices.

  I got into my room, the toilet paper roll was half empty as was the bottle of lotion on the sink. When you go to a hotel, you aren't supposed to see any sign of the people who stayed in the room before you! Guests had to pay additional costs to use the fitness center and wireless internet.

  The first time, it was in a standard room. Since it was the 4th of July and the prospect of seeing fireworks from a bayside room seemed ideal, we decided to upgrade to a double view, deluxe room overlooking both the bay and the city. Still, it's all about location and this hotel can't be beat for that.

  If we'd kept the air conditioner on and the windows closed, it probably would have been o. Instead, we opened the windows for the summer breeze and the noise of the trolley which runs continously outside the hotel was terrible up until 2:00 a.

  The lobby area is beautiful but when you reach the elevator area, there's a stench of what seems to be a water/sewer issue. The carpet was dirty but the view was nice and the bed was comfortable. There's a sign in the bathroom indicating that linens are only replaced upon request in order to conserve water and energy which is a great idea. The staff at the Concierge desk were also very knowledgeable.

  The rooms are rather small and ready for some updating. However, the housekeeping was somewhat lacking. We had dirty glassware left in our room day after day.

  Saturday night, which I know is awesome for downtown San Diego, but the room just wasn't anything special. The exterior and lobby areas were amazing, but the room was sub-par.

  Manchester Hyatt is in a great location, in walking distance to the Gaslamp District, close to the ferry to Coronado, and on the waterfront near some nice restaurants. The staff was wonderful and the room was spacious and clean.

  The Manchester is within walking distance of Seaport Village, the trolley station, the USS Midway, and Petco Park. Hotel staff was plentiful, very friendly and accommodating. The food at both the event we were attending as well as the Hotel cafe was excellent.

  If you're expecting marble floors in the bathroom and a flat screen plasma in the room this isn't the place for you. The room is above average but not in sync with the price. Definitely request a room on the upper floors with a view of the water.

  The location for the Grand Hyatt was great. We had a room overlooking the marina and spa pool. Seaport Village is right outside the hotel, so there are no worries about parking if you park at the hotel garage (expensive, but in/out privileges handy). The regular room we were in looked to be recently remodeled, at least where bedding and furniture was.

  Certain streets are very crowded and you can tell that food is the main reason people go there.

  20 minutes later we checked in got our keys and went up to the room. 30 minutes later with new keys in hand I went back to the 31rst floor room - the keys failed to work again. I kid you not but it took a full 10 minutes of ringing to get room service on the line. Sprite with no glasses or ice, 2 decent club sandwiches, and 2 inedible salads later we went to bed.

  I tried calling from the white phone near the elevator but the phone just kept ringing. I went back down to the front desk and was told I had to wait in line to get a new key. I went down to the front desk once more only to be told I had to wait in line. 15 minutes later the fellow who checked me in stated they had trouble with the keys all day - some computer glitch.

  We did not have a car and found the hotel's downtowns location to be good for walking to all downtown attractions. In general, all of the hotel's amenities (food, drinks, parking, exercise room) are expensive. We stayed in the new tower in one of the smaller suites on the 30th floor. The room was a little larger than an average hotel room but was very clean and had floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of downtown and a slight bay view.

  However, if you needed a vehicle for other San Diego attractions (zoo, Sea World etc) the parking rates at the hotel are high.
