Excellent location etc and great restaurants in the vicinity - the cheap.

Great location, great restaurants in the vicinity - the cheap and delicious Vesi (one of a chain of 3 pizzerias) is around the corner on Santa Lucia, and opposite hotel is Transatlantico - excellent seafood and great views of the marina.

Perhaps the best location in town, the hotel's private luxury boat and the housekeeping staff very very pleasant.

When we asked for directions or taxis, there was always a curt reply that followed, and sometimes, the taxi wasn't even called for us and we had to go hail it ourselves.

When we asked for assistance in booking a car or taxi to Sorrento (we were willing to pay over 120 Euro for the trip), the hotel staff simply called a cab - one without airconditioning - and left us to negotiate and finalize details with the cab.

The "king" bed was actually two beds pushed together -- not what one would expect from a hotel that purportedly is of high caliber.

The room was dated, with an uncomfortable bed (two singles pushed together) and very poor AC.

The staff were friendly and efficient, the bed was extremely comfortable.

In addition to the better view, I think that those rooms have better furnishings and a nicer bathroom.

We had a lateral sea view at 7th floor, but it was beautiful because you could see both the city centre and the sea; room was large enough, it has all you could wish, but the most beautyful things was toilet (well, actually this is my obsession.

The breakfast room has some views, as does the boring top floor "posh" restaurant - but it needs an external terrace with a nice bar.

There are a number of restaurants near the Egg and the hotel restaurant was very good, if expensive.

Unusually for buffet breakfasts at this kind of hotel, the breakfast room was spacious, not too busy and staffed with enough waiters to give you a really personal service.

Italian breakfast overlooking the gorgeous Bay of Naples including Italian sausage, fresh mozzarella, fresh fruit,sweets, and too much more to list, just think 9 feet of food choices!

Breakfast was a buffet affair but with a whole range of fresh, original food.

Expecting luxury in Naples, helpful staff and the receptionist also showed us up to our room.

The view from my room was fabulous, the hotel restaurant was very good and reception staff were extremely professional and helpful.

The front desk staff was mixed - most were helpful, the breakfast room was spacious.

In addition to the better view, the Caruso serves good quality as well and the reception staff were also fine.

Only other drawback is €32 entrance fee per person per visit for spa (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym etc) even for hotel guests.

An attractive fitness/relaxation center and the best archaeological museum in Europe.

Access to the swimming pool is complicated and the swimming pool is rather small.

A lot of hotels have pass keys for the doors but they actually seem to check the system here so that you're never interrupted by housekeeping - indeed you never even see any cleaning carts in the corridors: our room just magically seemed to clean itself, even in the short period while we were at breakfast.

The rooms were spotless and the breakfast was appallingly bad as well.
