The weak dollar made everything outrageously expensive and the hotel's steep prices only made one want to spend money outside the hotel.
The hotel is situated far away from railway station (30 min on foot), near the sea, but they haven’t own beach, so you must pay money, but it is a usual thing for Viareggio.
Competitive rate, the full breakfast and total comfort made the hotel a great value.
This is not a cheap hotel, but you most definetly get what you pay for!
The hotel is in a great location opposite the promenade and close to the park with its woods.
The location is perfect and a large balcony to sit out at.
The location is great and the hotel provides bicycles!
The hotel is right by a bus stop so that it is relatively easy to get transport to other parts of the coast or the airport.
It is also very handy for a trip to Pisa - half a day was more than enough time - well worth the wait at the train station.
The room was small but had a lovely balcony: the bathroom was the same size as the bedroom also with balcony and our only quibble was the fact that it lacked a bath but had a large walk in shower cubicle- there was certainly room for both!
The bathroom was nice with a bath and shower and towels changed daily.
The bathroom had a shower which was quite small and no bath but was clean with towels replaced every day.
Very nice clean hotel, professional staff and the bed was very comfortable - they even had a "pillow menu" to pick the type of pillow you like best.
Bed linens and toiletries were beautiful and very luxurious!
We couldn't recommend the restaurant in the hotel enough - we ate there 2/5 nights - but the best meals were at the hotel.
The choice of room service for breakfast was only a fraction of what was actually on offer if you went downstairs to their restaurant for breakfast.
The buffet style breakfast leaves you spoilt for choice with top quality food, but I can't comment on evening dining as we didn't try it (although the menu looked appetising).
The resort itself was a jewel of a find - designer shops, nice restaurants and beach as far as you can see.
The food in the Piccolo Principe Restaurant was first rate and we were also impressed by the extensive wine list.
The quality of service was outstanding; the rooftop pool magnificent; the staff - charming and helpful.
Reception staff speak excellent English & can't do enough to help, and bar staff serve your drinks before you've finished placing your order!
The hotel staff especially at reception and in the dining area were very pleasant.
The air conditioning was less than satisfactory, and the reception staff were quite abrupt.
There is a secluded pool & spa on the rooftop which offers stunning views of the bay & the hotel provides courtesy pedal cycles on request to explore the coastline which is well served by cycle paths.
The attractive swimming pool which is on the roof is difficult to swim in because it is only about two feet deep; this is compensated for by lovely jacuzzi-type water systems in different parts of the pool.
The rooftop pool is one of the nicest pools we have had in Europe and the spa has some excellent massages (we did the hand massage with cascading water from many jets spraying warm water while having the oil massage).
