Grand Hotel Du Parc Villars-sur-Ollon

Bedroom was old style with genuine antique furniture - would have been nicer with double bed rather than 2 singles pushed togeher - but this seems to be the norm in a lot of European countries.

The rather ineffective hairdryer was attached to the bathroom wall – sat on the toilet to dry my hair – wished I’d taken my own hairdryer.

Our bathroom was tiny – you could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth at the same time.

Our son’s single room on a lower floor had a larger bathroom.

The room was a standard double which was large enough for me and my son and the bathroom was OK - the shower head positioned halfway up the wall is traditionally Swiss and a pain unless you are a dwarf.

The new bar with live entertainment, a restaurant of superb gastronomic quality and the candle light atmosphere very cosy.

Good sauna, restaurant served great food and nIce facilities.

My final comment was the breakfast which only included a continental buffet rather than hot buffet that you intend to expect from a hotel of this class(you had to pay extra for hot food and it was served to order).

Breakfast was fine, the only Swiss efficiency I experience was in producing the huge bill and swimming pool was good.

Breakfast – nice bread, choice of cereals and juices, but let down by tinned fruit.

A nice area, the excellent reception staff showed us round the hotel and the french windows opened onto a balcony that was panoramic.

The reception staff were very helpful in discussing our walking trips around and about the area - [again with the views!

The hotel was showing as full on the booking website but we tried a walk in and the excellent reception staff showed us round the hotel and found us a room which we took (mainly because of the large swimming pool).

The staff were friendly and helpful and the evening meals were of very high quality.

That said, the renovated downstairs area with the skiroom, pool table and leisure facilities was modern to the extent that it felt like you were in a different hotel!

The swimming pool was a good size and a nice area however, it was kept far too cool, especially for young children (and this is coming from a person who surfs year round in the Atlantic!

Weren’t able to use hotel’s own ski lifts and runs as too little snow.

The views from the room are simply amazing, the hotel is very clean and restaurant is good.
