Grand Barbados Beach Resort

This is an okay hotel, good location, close to Bridgetown and St Lawrence Gap.

On the plus side, the location is not bad, and the beach has a certain charm.

When we arrived at reception I thought-"not bad", The hotel is not in a bad location and I even think that there is more than enough room for improvement!

After all this spending and renovation is done,as the years go by visitors won't mind paying the extra cash to visit such a hotel, location is better than some others I have seen.

The location of the hotel was beautiful in Carlisle Bay and the beach good with calm water for swimming.

Only one set of towel for a room with 2 double beds.

Besides eventhough there aren't many channels the place is very quiet, and the bed was very comfortable, plus we always had hot water.

Rooms are adequate, but had to change to south facing room to avoid being kept awake to 4am by loud music.

The room is spacious, furnishing are okay, decoration and bathroom old.

Our room was clean but small and shabby, the bathroom likewise.

Service in the hotel bar/restaurant is very slow, food not great either.

The food in the restaurant was okay and the sandwishes pretty good.

The restaurant is extremely overpriced, and the food was cold, the service even worse.

Breakfast is painfully bad and i would eat here only in the evening if there was really no other choice (ie all taxis on strike and not able to walk anywhere).

The hotel only has one restaurant and this was expensive and with no facilities nearby options for food were minimal.

Except for one grumpy housekeeper,the service at reception was not as bad as I read on previous reviews.

Some persons have stated that the staff at front desk seemed lazy, but I did give them a try (since I work in the hotel industry myself; in the Caribbean too)and they were in everyway helpful.

The morning staff for breakfast and lunch were much more friendly and much better service.

Checking in took an age despite reception staff outnumbering guests.

Gym not done, business center not done, entrance not even completed and nobody cleans any windows, lobby has no furniture etc.

The pool is small but beach is right there and is nice, not crowded with a sweet little shaded area under palm trees.

The elevator would only stop at two of the three floors that weren't being remodeled.

Hotel was clean but be sure to reques ta room facing the Hilton (NOT towards Bridgtown) since the club on that side blasts very loud music way into the night.
