Hotel Gran Paradiso Sorrento - 索伦托

The location was quiet and peaceful and the courtesy bus service fast efficient and on time.

The actual location of the hotel is about a 15 minute stroll from town down the cliffside which is fine to get down but not so easy to get back up!

I feel that it is extremely important for the traveller that when hotels are described in brochures, the location, facilities, meals and rating are as near 100% correct as possible.

A bus almost side swiped my daughter on the walk back and I was quite happy to pay any taxi fees after that close call.

The free bus service at night is very inconvenient so you are forced to drive or take a very expensive taxi.

The free hotel shuttle service was very convenient, and the hotel (including guest rooms) was IMMACULATE.

Our room was right over the pool and we could look out at the sea from our bedroom.

My only complaint would be that none of the rooms had a bath which would have been very welcome as I did get a bit sunbuned!

Due to the late deal, we had to book 2 rooms for a family of 4 as no family rooms were available, but on arrival we were offered a switch into a family room, with stunning views over the bay free of charge - bargain!

Rooms were, however, sparse, with a dorm room feeling.

Breakfast left something to be desired, but the snack bar and dinner provided wonderful food.

The restaurant food was appalling, breakfast consisted of salami, bread and cheese.

They have a monopoly though, as the nearest bar / restaurant is at the bottom of the mountain.

There are a good variety of shops and restaurants in Sorrento along with a close proximity to the intregueing ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The food is appalling, breakfast is very poor - tinned fruit in an area renowned for fruit and equally evening meals that have frozen fish in an area renowned for it fishing.

Bruno the manager and other reception staff, Gianni and Emilia went out of their way on several occassions to make sure we had everything we needed while staying at the hotel.

The service was great, Giuseppe the Maitre was really charming and all the other staff were very kind with me and they helped me to organise my holyday in the best way, especially during easter break where Sorrento was very crowded.

There was a maid service everyday, the maids never disturbed us in any way at all and the rooms were spotless.

The reception staff, like the bar staff, are very rude.

The only downside was the fact that pavements become car parking areas, and I found it a bit frightenin to push 2 buggies in the road.

I liked the location, free shuttle bus to downtown and the pool are excellent - the staff are helpful.

The pool and sunbathing terrace were fantastic you just moved your lounger round and you had this wonderful panaramic view of the bay of naples, Versuvius and Sorrento and on a clear day you could even see Capri.

The rooms are clean and fresh and the chambermaids were there to assist you for every need.

We had a clean room with a stunning view overlooking the pool.

Conchetta, who made who always did wonderful job with keeping our room comfortable and clean.
