Grafton Beach Resort - All Inclusive Scarborough

The hotel and location provide everything you need; yes it is looking a bit tired but it's always clean, the staff are great and so close to the beach.

Overall I would recommend the Grafton, it was set in a great location and it was a holiday to remember.

Having previously stayed at the Courlan a few years ago I was looking forward to the location, and only booked with Grafton as our group had a child with us - so my perspective is comparative to the Courlan (which was excellent 5 years ago).

The Sunday school entertainment (a 5 minutes drive by taxi) was great and I should not forget to mention the bird sanctuary only a 10 minutes walk away.

We'd had a long flight from the UK and had arrived tired and probably unprepared for the tremendous heat and humidity that greeted us when the plane touched down at Crown Point Airport!

The furniture was all dark brown with pink flowery bedding but the bed (there were two double beds in the room) was very comfortable and the bedding was exceptionally clean.

That apart, the rooms were cleaned and tidied every day and the bathrooms, although rather dated in terms of fittings, were in good working order, always with plenty of hot water available for showers/baths.

We had a good look around the room, the bed was huge and the balcony was large and we had a seaview which was beautiful.

Rooms are large (we had a double bed each) and all balconies are very private, most with ocean views.

Note that the rooms are rather basic, although clean they are not by any means luxury but rather dated, the bedspreads a little old and in one room the bath was a little rusty.

The all-inclusive deal included a full meal in the restaurant at lunchtime, this could have been much improved if the food had been served hotter, try the beach bar which is open to 5pm.

The hotel has an additional seafood restaurant to complement the main restaurant and beach bar (the beach bar is open for food at lunch only but serves drinks all day).

The beach bar restaurant was even worse, I ate there once and it took over an hour for my food to be brought to me - and it was only a toasted sandwich!

The seafront lunch bar was superb - chicken Roti being my fave, and a friendly waitress who remembered our orders from one day to the next (this girl and the cook in the evening little restaurant both received tips at the end of our stay).

Hot water, bar staff were pleasant enough and the best meal of the day had to be breakfast.

The Grafton Beach Resort was lovely, best aspect of hotel was maid service and the staff were also very friendly.

Moreover staff were really nice, room was good - very clean and tidy, some of the girls from the bar did waitress service - others didn't.

Mr Dickerson, the General Manager, has very many good staff in his establishment and I hope he will convey to them our very grateful thanks for their kindness and excellent service.

Some reception staff ether did not understand or had lost the plot and despite also asking maids, no towels were forthcoming.

My son enjoyed the use of the excellent gym in the next door hotel (under the same ownership) and somehow extended that concession to the pool and bar.

As for the kids pool claimed - it's a BLEEDIN' jacuzzi the size of a pool table.

There is also a swim up pool bar and a Jacuzzi – both of which were not in use when we visited.

Room was good - very clean and tidy with good fixtures and fittings, so reading the other reviews surprise me.

The room was clean and the food was always hot.

This hotel is quite old and looking “tired” in places however our room was comfortable, clean and any problems were dealt with promptly.

Our maid was excellent and the room kept spotless.

Room was good sized and clean, decent food made our holiday far better than expected.
