  It is convenient for travel to downtown Toronto being only a five minute walk to the subway station. Clean basic accomodation in convenient location.

  Air conditioning units were a bit noisy however very welcome in the humidity.

  It is a great locaton mid town located right beside a beautiful park and a five minute walk to Lawrance subway station and a ten minute walk to the shops and bars of Yonge and Eglinton. The staff were friendly and helpful so although it was no Hilton, for the price it is a good place to base yourself if you are spending most of your time out and about.

  Glen Grove suites is an old renovated five storey building built in the 30s or 40s. We recently spent three weeks in a two bedroom apartment over Christmas. It also has a small gym and a computer room with two PCs and free internet. Being an old buiding the furnance pumped out the heat without control so we had to have a window open as somedays as it was too warm inside. I can see why others say it can be very hot in the summer as the building is built to keep the heat in.

  Close to subway station for travel downtown.

  No amenities, no outlet in bathroom for hairdryer, inadequate air conditioning.

  We chose it as a three-star hotel and were disappointed. It is an art deco building, with the feeling of an old apartment building inside. The "suite" had a window air conditioner in the living area only, leaving the small bedroom very stuffy. Carpet and wallpaper were well aged. Kitchenette and laundry room could be useful for a longer stay: we would have preferred coffee for the coffee maker. Adjacent free parking lot was a plus.

  This place has but one redeeming feature - its location.

  Upon arrival at Glen Grove Residences our VISA had been charged $1,000 (the full amt) for our 5 day reservation. Ordinarily this would't be a concern, but the poor state of cleanliness in which we found our room along with numerous other deficiencies should have resulted in an immediate change in accommodation. However, this wasn't possible as Glen Grove operates 24/7 without any front desk or other on-site staff except a third party security guard who merely directs guests to the Help Desk phone number. Unfortunately no useful assistance was available through this number as we discovered when the promised weekly maid service failed to appear. The Help Desk's response - maid service for our room hadn't been scheduled.

  Room was cleaned once in a 6 day stay ( on fifth day? Iron in common laundry room ( good washers and dryers).

  Lots of odours from various suites - cooking etc. Okay value for the budget minded (if you don't mind noise and heat).

  The suite was very roomy, but a little dark with high ceilings. No hairdryer, iron, nor sink or bath plugs were supplied - so either ask or take your own! The air conditioning was only in the living room so we did find it a little difficult to sleep in the humidity of Summer. Even the sound of the underground did not lull us to sleep! If you want to self cater then Glen Grove is ideal and well positioned for the subway.

  We found the room shabbily cleaned when we arrived. Hair on the floor and dusty so my husband had to call to have the room cleaned again. The master bedroom has a queen bed and large enough to accommodate a cot with room to spare. The bathrooms are bright and modern, one with a tub and the other with shower. However they sprayed the room and the cushions with some kind of strong air freshener that triggered my asthma.

  We initially booked into the Yonge Street property because it was closer to my dad's place but we bailed when we saw the room. We called the hotel management and inquired about their downtown property, The Rosemont, but was told that the 2 bedroom suite would not be available until Monday (3 nights later). The Internet hook up is not wireless and it took 2 hours for the management to set it up. Something about Rogers not letting them use a modem from another suite, etc, etc. The second bedroom has a double bed and lots of closets throughout the suite.

  What you will get is reasonable accomadation, in a good location. The staff, without fail, were friendly and helpful. It's two block from a subway station so it's out of town location is no great drawback and it's only a 5 minute drive from the freeway network, so the location is fine.

  It is like a resedential building with apartments of different sizes. The apartment we took was very clean and well furnished.
