The food is absolutely amazing at this 54-acre Tudor retreat. The Modern European restaurant serves chef Michael Caines' incredible food and offers a great wine selection. The rooms are lavish, the gardens are beautiful, and the service is top-notch. The prices are steep, though.

Surrounded by 45 acres of garden and woodland in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, this luxury hotel has been frequented by well-travelled connoisseurs for over 10 years. It has everything to make your stay a truly exceptional experience: sumptuously designed premises, high-level service and refined atmosphere of a rich country house. Active guests can make use of a tennis court, two croquet lawns, and 18-hole championship level putting course for golfers. Further activities include fishing, horse riding and shooting.             The food, service, wine, surroundings were incredible and the hotel provided a clean and well made up cot. The staff were wonderful, the bed was incredibly comfortable and I had the best night’s sleep in ages, the breakfast was excellent and very leisurely.
