This hotel is a good value for a hotel in this area and lives up to its 3 star ranking.
This is not a luxury hotel, but it offers good value, and we will come back again.
Just save yourself the time and money and don't bother with this hotel.
1) clean, comfy room (although very small in comparison to other hotels in this price-range);.
The best thing about it is location, no it isn't on the main strip, but the walk isn't bad.
The Smoky Mountains are beautiful and this hotel has a great location relatively close to the park's entrance.
We decided to try this one becasue the price was right, in addition to the location.
Wife was stung on the foot when she tried to walk back to her seat in the midst of a carpet of bees stuck in the water on the side of the pool.
Ironically enough 2 days after we got home our baby has come down with hand foot and mouth syndrome.
It was strange, like having a bedroom in a storefront, and I went back downstairs and said that the room didn't have a window and politely asked if they had any other rooms available that indeed had windows that opened to the outdoors.
The room was a little on the small side with one queen bed, but it was very clean and decorated nice.
The air conditioning never really cooled the room and the bed linens were sticky every night.
The building we stayed in was undergoing some renovations (one elevator had plywood on the floor) but the room was large and cheerful, the bed was comfortable, and he location was ideal.
Our bathroom was scrubbed every single day and new sheets on the bed, along with the carpets vacummed.
The on site restaurant is only open for breakfast, which you get free coupons for and they have a nice spread of food from eggs, biscuits and gravy to cereal, fruit and yogurt.
Although the pools were nice and the breakfast bar was nice that's about it.
And by the way, the "restaurant" is only open for breakfast and we never did see the pizza place open.
The resturant isn't impressive, we ate breakfast there one day, then opted to eat out the rest of the time.
The only downer was no continental breakfast however they do have a restaurant there.
Front desk staff have always been helpful.
We would have asked maintanance to come fix it, but when we went to the front desk because the remote control wasn't working, we were informed there was no maintanance staff for the day.
I should have immediately thought of the fact that the indoor pool and jacuzzi were smack dab in the middle of the lobby (a strange setup), and this might lend itself to creating some traffic to and from the pool at all hours.
The indoor pool and spa were very nice, as was the outdoor pool.
There was a choice of an indoor or outdoor pool, a hot tub, a little playground for children under 7 or 8, an arcade, a babbling brook and plenty of parking.
Wireless internet free for use As I am writing my review, I am using the free wireless internet provided by the hotel.
Oh, and the advertised "High Speed Internet" is not very fast.
The rooms are reasonably priced and always clean.
There were no doggy smells, the rooms were very clean, and there were no problems with the plumbing or the showers.
The room did not smell clean and Just was not worth the money we paid.
The room was not smelly and for the most part clean.
However, our room was updated and very clean.

It is a older hotel, but the rooms were large and well maintained. Angela Wilson, the Host and April Groat, the Catering Manager, I feel, went out of their way to ensure us a great experiance while there. We also found the staff to be very friendly and made us feel welcome. If any of you Vets out there are looking for a place to hold a reunion in Gatlinburg, I truly hope you will consider The Garden Plaza Hotel, we also had a simple cookout, catered by the Hotel in Maynatt Park, right next to the hotel, and again, it was great and the staff out did themselves.

The game room and pool closed at 11:00P every night and even that late at night with all the kids playing the games it wasnt loud.

The room was very small and smelled incredilbly musty and damp. It was so bad that we asked to see other rooms at the hotel so that we might move to a better room. The other available room we looked at was just as bad! The worst part is that it still cost $100 a night - this hotel room is not worth half that!
