I've just returned from a 3 night stay in Riga with a group of 14 friends (yes, a stag do) and the overwhelming consensus was that the Garden Palace was a really nice hotel and great value.

Everything is good about this hotel - location, service, rooms, breakfast, price.

Location – Located near the town hall and on the edge of the old city, it is a great location to walk to any of the monuments, museums, etc.

The other rooms could be better equipped or have better location.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and tidy and has a fantastic location.

Taxi from the airport dropped us outside for 8LVL(£8).

30 pence, taxis try to rip you off a bit, but when its -21c who wants to wait on a bus.

The room was a good size, decent bed, large wardrobe, good size bathroom, television, minibar, which was reasonably priced and even better if you bought your own from the supermarket.

The suite had a ground floor lounge and kitchen area and then 2 massive bedrooms upstairs, both with en-suite bathrooms (one of which had a jacuzzi the other a sauna room).

It had a king size bed, huge sitting area, spa bath, sauna, free internet access, cable TV, etc.

Our room was long and narrow, but spacious enough, with a comfortable double bed, huge wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a desk area with phone, mirror etc.

The guest rooms are small so maybe if you go for it ask for a suite.

We joined hundreds of Latvians out for their Sunday stroll - along the beach then back to eat lunch at one of the many outdoor restaurants.

Food – Breakfast – We only had it one morning, it was OK, cheap 3Lv’s each, quite busy though.

Breakfast was quite busy and we had to share tables with other guests, but this is not a problem.

On the same street as the hotel there are loads of bars and restaurants.

The breakfast was more than fine with mini sausages, omletes, scrambled egg, pancakes, and cereals.

Hotel Reception Desk Staff could do with some basic customer service skills.

Reception staff were always smiling, friendly and very helpful.

The reception staff were helpful and spoke enough English to get everything we needed sorted.

The service was a bit slow and when my daughter commented on this, the elegant waiter shrugged and said, what did we expect?

Based on the previous reviews and the acceptable price we chose to stay at the Garden Palace Hotel and were not disappointed.

The Garden Palace is located centrally in Old Town and everything was within easy walking distance.

We stayed at the Garden palace hotel and have to say that it was great hotel.

Both rooms were well appointed, clean & breakfast was good.

The bathrooms were clean and up to date, recently renovated.

Huge sitting area, beautiful hotel and the staff were extremely friendly. The reception room was good and the variety of food was amazing.

Great views from roof top terrace and please note that this is not a four-star hotel: small rooms without ventilation. The staff couldnt have been more helpful, breakfast is good.

The Garden Palace is located centrally in Old Town and the mattress on the bed could be more comfortable.

Nice location and cosy atmosphere. Staff most friendly, comfortable room and an extremely cheap mini bar. Good breakfast included.

Centrally located and nice atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff, good bed. The mini bar surprisingly cheap, great breakfast and 2.40 for a 3/4 Litre Latvian strong beer.

The excellent location in old riga, friendly atmosphere and the staff were very pleasant and accomodating. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was good.
