Very interesting hotel, nothing else like it in China. Great safari motif.
Unethical pricing model. Your stuck there and they know it! Everything costs extra!
If you like money, don't stay at this hotel. It is in a southern most part of GuangZhou suburbs and it is in the middle of a secluded animal park. In other words, you are in the middle of nowhere and the hotel managment knows it. Here's how the scam works: First they lure you there with very affordable room rates, but then they kill you by outrageous prices on everything. For example, a coca-cola in the lounge bar cost the equivalent of almost US$5/can, the buffet dinner is about US$30/person, the buffet breakfast is US$19, the exercise room costs money, too! You can not sit down anywhere to have an informal meeting with out being forced to buy something. I, and my colleagues, found what appeared to be a completely empty coffee shop at 10:30pm, sat down at the table just to discuss some of the days business, out of the shadows a waitress comes over and informs us that the table we were sitting at was "pay only" and we would have to leave. There wasn't another soul in the building at that hour and they were insisting we leave. Then, they had very small majhong rooms that were rented out at US$3.50/hour, but if we weren't intending to play majhong in the room, we would have to pay the "business conference" rate of US$15/hour. Does this make sense??? Bottom line -- don't stay at this hotel. If I can convince 10 people not to stay here, I'll feel as if I've done my job.
