The location of the hotel was in walking distance to all the sights. The staff was great and made our stay very enjoyable.

good location, everything you need and a lot of sights are in walking distance. friendly and helpful service. big rooms and very clean.

Quite noisy, noise of street and backyard can be heard through the closed windows. Equipment of the kitchen and the furniture was rather basic, it was ok but really not what I would call a design appartment.

The location of Hotel Galatea was great - right in the city center and an easy walk to all of Rome's main attractions - as well as the metro and main train station! I booked this hotel based on location, price and past reviews and I was not disappointed. The staff were all very friendly, our room and bathroom was nice and spacious and very comfortable.

The only things I didn't particularly enjoy was the breakfast - not a whole lot of selection and almost all of the choices were very sweet and sugary. The only other downside were all of the marble stairs - the hotel is located on the 3rd floor (which is actually the fourth floor). There is a lift for the entire building but unfortunately most of the people who use the lift didn't close the doors back all the way when they exited on an upper level and the lift does not operate when the doors are not closed completely. So after a long, hot day of trudging around Rome, it was depressing to get there and press the lift button to find that it was stuck on an upper floor so we had to take the stairs.

The staff was extremious friendly and willing to help! Rooms were very clean.

        1. From the street you cannot recognize the hotel, it was not clear were to go to. 2. Room 305 has the smoke area right under the window, smoke comes into the room. 3. It was noisy; at 7.00am there was a lot of noice in the courtyard and at 7.15am the gallery was cleaned, the brush touched the fence over and over, also a lot of noice. 4. tv showed only Italian broadcasters. 5. Breakfast was poor; only some sweet buns/croissants and canned fruit, muesli, serial.

The room was simple, but clean.

The staff were very friendly and wanted to be helpful, but weren't very knowledgable about tourist information. For instance they suggested a gelato place nearby and marked it on the map, but there was no gelato place there. We asked for help finding the Colosseum and got directions, but he forgot to mention that most of Rome's streets were closed off for a reunificatoin celebration parade, so it was almost impossible to get to the Colosseum (which was also closed).

        Proximity to shops

Bed was very hard and no internet. Good for a few nights but not 9.

Nice hotel. Good central location. Not far from the main train station and all the attractions. Room was quite modern and clean but a little small. All hotels in Rome are overpriced but this is the best I've come across in this price range considering its central location.

The hotel is on the 3rd floor of what looks like a normal apartment block. Access to the hotel is through a dark quiet courtyard off a side road. Maybe this is normal for people who live in Rome but I'm not sure a foreign single woman would feel comfortable coming back late at night on her own.

Proximity to city centre allowed us to walk to all main tourist attractions and to the metro and termini. We always felt safe and secure in this area.

Breakfast could have varied over the week -could not face another fake toasted bread and philly cheese(only protein on offer) by end of week. Cereal was good. Perhaps some ham and cheese as in other European countries and choice of making fresh toast would have been preferable with selection of fresh fruit and not bland tinned. If this is not an option perhaps breakfast should not have been included in price and we would have eaten out each day.

The location of the hotel was excellent - very central to everything in Rome

We received some incorrect advise from the hotel attendant when we asked about the best way from Termini to the Leonardo Da Vinci airport. We were told that there was a shuttle bus from the train station to the airport, which we tried to find when we got there...needless to say the signs at the train station were less than helpful. We wasted a lot of time trying to find out about the shuttle bus. In the end, we gave up and took a taxi to the airport. The hotel attendant advised that taxis take around 30 minutes to get there. Our ride took the best part of an hour! Consequently we missed out flight and had to pay for two full tickets to another airport in the uk, where we had to catch a train to our original destination, where our car was waiting in long stay carpark. So, a whole day wasted travelling...we were sorely disappointed. An awful way to end an otherwise superb holiday!

We looked for a good price near the train station (Termini) with good reviews. While this hotel was in a great location, however it was equally far from a few metro stations (e.g. Republica, Cavour etc.) We walked from here to Trevi, Colosseum. Except for one guy, staff wasn't very friendly. This guy however showed us on the map what to visit. There are supermarkets nearby. Est Est Est nearby is a great place.

Internet connection was unreliable. Breakfast was boring, no meat (ham, bacon, sausage etc.) served. Croissant was dry and too sweet. Coffee wasn't great. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of an old house where the lift is prone to "break". You need to close all three doors so that it will work. If anyone forgets to do so, you can stand forever waiting for the lift. TV only had Italian channels.

Very close to city center and Termini station. Breakfast was good. Beds were clean.

The elevator is working from the 1. floor not from the basement. Room walls were a little dirty but the bathroom was very clean. The lightening of our room was poor. Wifi is only in breakfast hall.

I visited Hotel Galatea with my partner for a city holiday in June. The Hotel was perfectly located, within walking distance of all major attractions, excl Vatican City which was a bit of a walk but not a problem with buses and taxis simply around the corner. There were shops and restaurants within a 2 minute walk which was very convenient, incl a pharmacy. The double room was, in my opinion, very good value and I couldn't fault the staff. They were both welcoming and helpful. They had detailed answers for everything we asked down to bus changes and times when going out of the city. The Hotel is located on the third floor of a very old and very characteristically European building but inside the Hotel was clean and modern, no fancy trimmings but all the essentials and comfortable. I have already recommended the Hotel to friends and would stay again if my wish at Trevi Fountain works.

The only thing I would fault or think could be improved is the breakfast menu, there wasn't much choice and everything was very sweet(I know this is quite common in Southern Europe but to some people savoury is nice).

Location was good. A lot of attractions in walking distance, also metro and buses nearby. Staff were happy to help with directions and advice

To access wifi you have to leave your room and go to the common area. Lifts start at first level, not something you want to see when you're carrying heavy bags

Great location, walking distance from main attractions and good connection by bus to the Vatican. Helpful, kind but discreet staff. Neat and pleasant room, very nice and clean bathroom in the room with lots of towels and toileteries. It was winter so the heating was important: it worked. Breakfast is in a pleasant, nicely organised space, quiet and relaxing. Good, reliable place, in a safe and relatively quiet area. If you follow the street down, you will find a few promising local restaurants (away from the main street). A reliable place without negative surprises.

The wi-fi did not work in my room. The lift only operates from the 1st floor - may be important if you have a lot of luggage, but the spacious staircase with low steps is easy to handle even if you do not like walking up.

Excellent location and staff. It's very central and near everything so we could go on foot everywhere we wanted. The staff is excellent and Riccardo was very helpful all the time. The décor is also very nice and all the rooms are very nice and confortable, with a fridge, free wi-fi, and a laptop for comun use if necessary. The air conditioning is also present, as also a DVDPlayer and Cable tv. If you like to cook, there's also a kitchenette fully equipped, which is also very handy. We will definatelly come back one day !

The elevator was very small, and we never managed to work with the key. The breakfast could also be a little better.
