First Hotel Reisen Stockholm - 斯德哥尔摩

NIce location along waterfront next to palace and polite staff.

The hotel has a very nice location, downtown Gamla Stan ("Old Town) in Stockholm, by the waterfront and just next to the royal castle.

The location on the waterfront in Stockholm's Old Town makes this hotel worth considering.

A taxi to the Central Station cost about 90 Kr incl.

Limos organised for us (at same price as a taxi) when we needed them - we felt like film stars in our warm furry coats as the porter opened the door and we stepped in.

The bedroom portion was miniscule and once the sofa bed was extended there was no room to move about in the living room area.

Small but pleasant and quiet room with excellent beds and a view on the harbour, also small bathrooms (1,50m x 1,60m) but nevertheless fully equipped and comfortable.

We had a room facing the sea, a good bed and two comfortable chairs.

Modest sized bedroom and small en-suite but good view of the water (but beware road noise if you are a light sleeper); chipped furniture unrepaired.

The deluxe room had no view, but was large, bright, and had a HUGE bathroom with a sauna and whirlpool bath.

Restaurant was very good: breakfast buffet met every preference that we could think of, and the small lunch and dinner menu met our needs very well (we warmly recommend the mediterranean style fish soup, an entire meal in itself).

There is an optional turndown service, which I didn´t use, and a great bar - restaurant.

Terrific breakfast, excellent bar, prime location if you want to take the ferry to Skagen or see the royal palace.

Restaurant vegetables and fish very fresh (from the daily fish market just up the road), breakfasts rivalled my local cafe for a top "full English".

A bit of a nautical theme here and there, especially in the bar and restaurant.

As I took many walks, I got to know the front desk staff, and they were friendly, helpful and very kind (offering me coffee my first morning, though it was after breakfast time and not yet lunch, for example).

The hotel is very well situated for "doing" all the sights in Stockholm, comfortable home spice and front desk staff all very helpful.

As the doors to the bar are locked during the renovation, this means that every time you want to use the sauna, you have to ask a member of the front desk staff to unlock the door.

The reception staff were very professional, friendly, and helpful.

Very unusual little cold plunge pool and gym in basement below the bar.

And lastly the sauna is a large area with a bracing plunge pool.

The other problem with the bar being closed is the fact that the entrance to the sauna and pool are through the bar.

An eclectic mix of traditional hotelkeeping and modern Scandinavian design, our executive bedroom was well-appointed, a reasonable size and very clean.

The rooms size are small by US standard, but very clean and comfortable.

We got precisely that and although the rooms were tiny they were clean, well fitted out and had a wonderful view over stockholm harbour.

Rewind back to our stay: the room was nice; not new and fresh, but quite quaint.
