The first time I luckily stumbled on it down the narrow sidestreet from the station.

From here you are on the edge of the 'old city' (downhhill), making it within easy walking distance of all the major sites - and easy to leave from the station.

My room was comfortable, with good aircon and bath.

Bathroom was clean and neat but you needed to be a contortionist to use the bidet (actually the toilet was a danger too as you risked cracking your head on the basin when you stood up.

This place is a bit of a throwback to the seventies, but the rooms are clean, though the air conditioning in mine did not work.

The rooms are excellent value compared to the less expensive but quite poor pensions in the area.

We had a non-smoking room which was fine but corridors and the reception smell heavily of stale smoke.

Has a decent bar opposite and a couple of modest but satisfactory restaurants very close by.

I agree with the last reviewer regarding the breakfast, unappetising even by Italian standards.

Breakfast is continental which we found is usually fine in most of Italy but this hotel is well below par.

My advice, skip the breakfast at the hotel and grab a tasty coffee and panini around the corner at one of the many fabulous little cafes.

Staff very helpful and speak good English.
