I am picky when it comes to hotels and travel a lot, and I am surprised at the mixed reviews - which I assume were price driven.
Being fussy the only and main gripe i would have is that there were some conferences going on which meant that at times there were some 'communal' rooms that we couldn't visit but i guess this is the way the hotel makes their money.
A lovely hotel but unless you have money to burn watch what you spend.
While I enjoyed my stay there I would say that I think this hotel is a little overpriced.
The location of the hotel is perfect and it's surroundings are beautiful however this was not the best part of our stay by any means!
The location is ideal as It was a straight route into Stratford which only took us about 10 mins each day.
The hotel location is somewhat remote (although you won't get buildings & grounds like this in a central location) and it's a c£16 to £18 taxi ride each way into Stratford.
Airport Taxi's which are your bog standard taxi vehicles).
Our table was booked for 7:30pm and we asked for a cab at 7pm to enable us to have plenty of time.
We stayed in one of the 'feature rooms' which boasted an antique four poster bed, and had a fabulous extra large bath tub.
The room was of a very high standard with a four poster bed a lovely view over the parkland and a luxurious bathroom.
From the initial booking, i had a designated events co-ordinator, who arranged everything from bed rooms;A Private dining room and the food and winw menus.
The room was large with antique furniture with a great four poster bed and a great view over the rolling countryside.
Our bedroom and bathroom both had windows as we were lucky enough to be at the end of a corridor so both rooms were nice and bright.
The bar/lounge is very pleasant, the food is in the main restaurant was great and the pool/sauna facilities are nice.
The bar/lounge staff were courteous and knowledgeable, breakfast very good was a bit chaotic.
The staff on the bar were fantastic and the first class food was a perfect combination for a romantic weekend.
Although we did not eat dinner at the hotel the breakfast was excellent in both quality and quantiy.
Food was excellent only slight problem was the bar area was very smoky and beautiful quiet surroundings made for an interesting restfull stay.
Front desk staff were friendly and the receptionist was pleasant.
This excellent service began when making a reservation though Central Reservations and continued during our stay with every member of staff being friendly, polite helpful and courteous.
Overbearing service - not actually from the waiters who were extremely inattentive, but from the maitre d' who asked us a total of four times whether we would like a table for the following night when we had already told reception that we did not.
The service we recieved was delightful with staff obviously very caring of there guests experiences.
For those of us that like to indulge in exercise it was disappointing that they wasn't a health club but the swimming pool and sauna were very relaxing.
Unfortunately we couldn't use the pool and spa area due to repairs so we cannot offer comment here.
The pool and sauna were clean and towels were soft.
In addition the bedrooms are spotless, large breakfast selection to suit all tastes.
The rooms are equipped with everything you could wish for and are very clean and modern.
The room was clean and the bar was well staffed.
The room was so spacious and comfortable and also scrupulously clean.
The room was lovely, clean, modern and a nice size.
