  On this island tipping is a bribe to get things done, not a thank you for good service.

  Rude hotel staff with very little understanding of the word service. The minibar was left unfilled despite the fact that this is the only place where you can get water outside mealhours. The island itself is very beautifull and the housereef is fanastic, but all the trouble with the staff and the total lack of caring for the guests ruined our holiday. We are abroad 5-6 times a year and have never experienced service as bad as this.

  The first look at arrival was amazing with the turqoise water, white beaches and the green background. We saw lots of fish jumping in the water. Other things to do in this little paradise island : The snorkelling is amazing we saw lots of moray eels and our waiter told us that you see sting rays by the diving jetty every day at 3 am. The opening bathroom was very nice and the food was very good.

  Stayed in rooms 116 and 117 which had a great beach like nearly all do (the 5 or 6 nearest the bar had very little). Absolutely beautifull island, great food, fantastic reef, and the dive school and instructors were great to my kids.

  My wife and youngest visited the Spa on a number of times and loved it.

  The rooms were clean if a little dated, but hey - clean linen daily, a hot shower and quite comfy bed, and we didn't come on holiday to paradise to spend much time indoors! The restaurant was great, food lovely with plenty of choice. The staff were really friendly and you didn't have to wait long to be served. We were in room 154 which was lovely and faced the large sandbank on the north side of the island.

  We would go back to the island, the manager was very keen to get our views and seemed to take on board what we said.

  What a lovely surprise to find that there was a 3 minute walk to the transfer speedboat, and within what seemed like moments (but was actually 45 minutes) we were walking down the pier to the check in at Eriyadu resort. They efficiently checked us in, and the porters carried out bags down the sandy pathway to room 118. We didn't really know what to expect from the room, and at first we were taken aback to find that the furnishings looked liked something out of a seventies hotel in deepest Russia! HOWEVER, the bed was super comfortable, and there were two comfy chairs on our own little verandah. And the room was very clean and the bathroom immaculate with an outdoor shower that meant we both could shower at the same time if we wanted. Another lovely benefit was our own room's beach chairs, which mean no towels at dawn from our German friends! And it was literally a 5 second walk to the water from our room.

  The staff bait the hooks for you, and it felt like the fish were just waiting for you to drop your line in to grab the bait - we both caught at least 5 fish, including barracuda. We sat at a different table one night and caused considerable consternation with the staff! One final hint - you need to take US$ for tips, although everything on the island can be charged to your room.

  Transfer from Male to Eriyadu took about 50 minutes in a lovely speedboat. Check in was efficient and we were booked into room 102. The room was not really cleaned by anybody other than me. Next time we will request room 110 to 116 as they are in a better location.

  The room was spacious but not really well appointed. Its position was very close to the bar area and was noisy twice a week with the entertainment, although that finished about midnight. On our last day we had a little hurricane with high winds and water coming in under our front door.
