The Empress Hotel is for the budget minded traveler, who prefers to spend their money things other than a hotel room.

I stayed in the Empress for the New Year and I have to say it is not a 5star hotel but for the price I was very happy the staff was very helpful and the location was great only 5 a five minute walk to Bourbon Street.

Moreover i liked the hotel because I could use an air-conditioner and the prices are great.

I am quite sure after reading reviews online since returning home that this is how the hotel makes its money.

The location was pretty handy, the only good thing was that was close to Bourbon street and i wouldn't stay there again were free.

The parking is free - I guess they feel too bad about the location of the hotel, which is in the worst neighborhood in the city, to charge you for it.

The location is great, the Empress Hotel is cheap and the cleaning staff work hard.

Take a taxi back at nite, walk during the day.

Then 9/11 happened and all airport traffic stopped, the owner then begged for people to stay.

There were 4 of us, & we were told there would be plenty of room for 4 people in the rooms, & because there was just one bed, to bring sleeping bags - no problem.

The rooms are TINY with no furniture except a chair and bed.

You get a double bed in a small (not tiny) room.

The rooms are small (we were warned of this) and I brought with me an air mattress because of the one double bed.

It was super hot in our room and we only had one very small bed.

I am not a rich woman, so I would rather go to New Orleans and spend money on shopping, and dining in the finest restaurants.

They were helpful in suggesting restaurants and various tourist attractions.

But teh best was the Breakfast buffet, with eggs, pancakes, toast, sausage, bacon,grits, OJ, milk, beer and malt liqour.

The Empress provided clean rooms, with a very courteous front desk staff.

The reception area was clean and staff was friendly.

The staff is extra friendly and take care of you.

If you enjoy a pleasant, helpful staff, this the place for you!

If you want room service, a pool, spa and all the extras I would not recommend this hotel.

Located the parking area beside the Hotel.

Sitting in the Parking Lot we called and cancelled and received a confirmation number.

Clean sheets, a clean bathroom and not much more.

A nice staff for a economical price and clean beds.

However, If you want clean room with free parking and a nice staff for a economical price.

A clean bathroom and eating wonderful food.

The staff was friendly and the room was clean.

    A man showed us two styles of rooms (medium and large) that were the same. Spend the extra money to stay at a hotel with a name you recognize.

    The free nightly monitored parking should be a giant red flag. The rooms are TINY with no furniture except a chair and bed. Another turn off was the odor in the hallways and rooms. We did not stay the night that is why we didn't rank the bed.

    A nice staff for a economical price and clean beds.

    The facility is just as bad as the its surrounding area, i understand the cost is low and tiny window that looks out on a dilapidated building. Towels that are so old you might get scratched you use them.
