Fine stay. Staff extremely helpful. St. Malo is a small walled in city. Quaint and beautiful. Price was pretty reasonable for location.

The WC was in a separate room (fine), but very tight.

Delightful hotel with very attentive and helpful bilingual staff. The Elizabeth is more convenient to reach than many other St Malo hotel locations and the authentic pre-war building is a plus. We would stay again!

17 century building within the ramparts of the old town of Saint Malo. Boutique hotel amidst attractive cafes and restaurants, surrounded by history. Attentive, bilingual staff and nice touches like Occitane products in bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities in bedroom.

Be aware that you have to book well ahead if you want to park at the hotel as it only has spaces for four cars. This is understandable as the historic buildings within the old town walls were built long before cars. You can park outside for 15 minutes to unload and the proprietor will give you a card to park nearby, or you can park outside the restricted zone and walk 20 minutes back to the hotel. We did this, and it was a very pleasant walk.

We liked the position, the lovely old building itself and the owner, who was most helpful.

The location was amazing, very central and close to the lovely bars and restaurants whilst still managing to be quiet!

The bed was so short! I am 5 foot 2 inches and my feet came out the bottom of the bed ... if that isn't bad enough, just think about the implication for my 6 foot 2 husband! Also, there was a suspiciously brown lump on the floor of the bathroom! Obviously I did not investigate to see what it was, I kept well clear just in case! Yuk

Interesting location. Great shopping and restaurants nearby..actually just steps away. Great history. Laundromat just 2 short half blocks away. So great to get laundry done in a safe clean invironment. We left our clothes washing while we strolled about for ice cream. Hotel room was comfortable and great shower/tub. My husband heard the revelers after the World Cup that night but I always travel with ear plugs. No problem.

Evening staff at the desk did not understand my request to get an outside line to call the US for my credit card problem. He was trying to be so helpful though. My problem was easily solved in the morning by the owner who was able to open an outside long distance line. I would suggest the ability to make a long distance phone call be explained on arrival.

The location was excellent in the old town, and the hotel has old world charm.

The price was over the top for the facilities offered, especially considering breakfast was extra.

Hotel Elizabeth was a lovely place to stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff were wonderful and could not have been more helpful. They recommended places to eat and things to see and made the stay so much more enjoyable. Location was also superb, I simply cannot fault the place. Would highly recommend to all.

The hotel was as described but extremely tatty. The decor and general toilet and bathroom facilities were worn and much used. The bedroom was adequate but the mattress was worn out and the paintwork was old. There were wine stains on the walls. Not good value for money. Overpriced and frankly, taking the mick.

The hotel is located in one of the oldest edifices of St. Malo, one of the very few which have survived from the 16th century, is steeped in history, which is reflected in the style of the interior, in terms of taste and respect for tradition. The welcome was charming, warm, unhurried, attentive, advice on what to see, directions, where to eat, how each of the recommended places was distinct were offered in a most amicable manner. It was not the laboured corporate 'grace', where one is treated in a mechanised manner of the 'hospitality industry' like a 'client', but a soft, impeccably human way of being. To make a transition to practicalities - the shower was generously warm, the toilettries uplifting, the cleanliness throughout beyond the shadow of reproach. It was a delightful stay in every respect. Oh, and the location could not be more ideal, both for walking (ten minutes) from the ferry terminal, and for exploring the Island.

Lovely staff. Nice older hotel. They will provide off-the-street parking in a secure garage for a nominal fee each night.

Beware that any hotel within walled city (not just Hotel Elizabeth) has the problem of extremely loud late-night revelers roaming the streets. Bring your earplugs! This hotel would not be good to stay in during the summer without air conditioning because you must close the windows at night to keep out the noise. The city should impose a curfew and a noise ordinance.

The hotel itself was a charming place. Our twin bedroom was spacious enough and the bathroom was quite modern & extremely clean. However, it was the staff that made the stay so enjoyable. They could not do enough for us, suggesting scenic drives and recommending a fantastic place for dinner and just being very welcoming. I would love to return to Saint Malo to be able to spend more time there and would definitely stay at the Hotel Elizabeth.

I am a seasoned traveller and fairly fussy. Extremely helpful staff. Very well kept rooms with tea and coffee facilities. Good breakfast selection for this category, cereals, breads, yogurts, preserves, ham and cheese. Location easy and parking available but pre-book (they happily park your car for you). Bear in mind most hotels in St Marlo old town are max 3 star so do not expect facilities such as spas, room service etc. However, this was a lovely building, it has a lift, all the buildings are very tall, so a lift is important! Any of the hotels are well located if staying in the 'inner old town'. If you want spa's etc - don't stay in old town, but the new town has little else to do. If you want character, castles, architecture, boutique shopping, cafes and restaurants then do. About 3 min drive from ferry terminal.

There was nothing I disliked about Hotel Elizabeth.

The hotel consists of two buildings one near the other. The building housing the offices is better equipped, it has elevator while the second building doesn'T. The rooms in the second building are small, crammed and they are proposed at a lower price. The staff was very friendly and helping. If needed and mentioned in advance the hotel has a closed parking place, to be paid separately. At high season is hard to find parking in the city within the walls. If you are lucky and find a payable parking place the parking is free from 19.00 to 9.00 next day. Outside the walls you have to pay also for the night parking.

The second building needs an uplift and reorganization. This building is not adequate for physically limited persons.
