Elbow Beach, Bermuda Hamilton

As well the location of Elbow Beach is perfect as you are centally located on the island.

None of the other major hotels that we saw came even close to beating the location and grounds of the Elbow Beach.

We choose Elbow Beach for our 20th anniversary get away because of its proximity to the ocean beach, room with a balcony overlooking the ocean, and general central location on the island.

Took a taxi from the airport which was apprx $30.

Hotel is 10 minute taxi ride from shopping,dining and ferry in Hamilton; taxis were plentiful at this time of year.

The one bedroom cottage has two flat sceen TV's, comfy king size bed, walk in closet, 1 1/2 baths, fireplace and a great patio area with table and chairs and lounge chairs.

Rooms are extremely important to me -- so I was very happy when we were escorted to Room 851 -- beachfront 1 bedroom suite.

Within the hour, we were moved to another room with two single beds pushed together to form one large bed - not exactly ideal for your honeymoon - but everything else was full at this point in the day.

The king bed was luxurious, there was a soaking tub in the middle of the room.

We got upgraded to the Caprice Cottage (we had 2 premium ocean rooms booked) -- phenomenal, 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, sitting room -- divine!

There are only 2 restaurants available for dinner - an expensive restaurant which serves somewhat esoteric foods and the bar where you can get sandwiches or burgers.

Our favorite meal was local cuisine at close-by Paw Paws (believe this restaurant is changing hands soon).

The best restaurant in the hotel for breakfast or dinner is the Sea Horse Grill the food was beyond great and the staff not only professional but friendly and informative.

The Rum bar did have great music and the breakfast buffet at the Seahorse Grill was wonderful.

For $20 extra a day (per room - not person) you can dine in their restaurant or have thru room service the most delicious breakfast!

So, I greatly appreciated the attitude of the staff - doormen, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant, room service, concierge, etc.

The front desk staff including the concierge and doormen address their longer-staying guests by name and are very helpful.

This included the front desk staff, the concierge, the sales people in the on-site stores, and the wait staff at Mickey's and the Lido Cafe.

While the staff ended up being much nicer to us at the end of our stay, at the beginning the concierge and front desk staff were not nice or very helpful at all.

The garden suites are not convenient to the pool OR the beach and you will likely be taking the shuttle EVERYWHERE.

Water 83 degrees every day in ocean- beautiful pool warmer than that, and pool and spa open all night for you to enjoy that late night "dip".

The main building features a lovely foyer, woody pub bar with a large rum menu, the spa, gift shops, and the only pool on the premises.

The room was clean, the carpet and linens new, the paint and flowers fresh.

Walking from the pool down through the gardens to our room was so creepy because they would never clean the cob webs and they were everywhere above and below and all around.

Although the room had not been entirely renovated, it was very attractive and spotlessly clean.

The service was attentive and the room was spotless.

Rooms are not top shelf but are clean, if not in need of upgrade.
