More charm than many hotels and great value.
In sum, a characterful hotel, well suited to families or couples, with friendly, charming hosts.
The location is beautiful and the price is reasonable.
John and his wife are truly welcoming and the location and house are superb.
The location of the Eagle House is perfect for visiting Bath and the surrounding area.
Extremely easy to get to Bath City Centre from here, we took the bus there both times and got cabs back (both times the cab was around £7-8 so very cheap).
Although it's quite a hik up the hill from the bus stop, we didn't mind so much.
The rooms are nicely decorated in a "Laura Ashley" coordinated style with nice bed linens and towels.
More of a large, grand bed & breakfast than a hotel, but still a lovely building in a lovely location - and very convenient for Bath.
Our double room was nice, the bed comfortable, but the shower was very poor.
We found it in this lovely old house & garden, located in a quiet village on the outskirts of Bath, with well lit spacious bedrooms, very good en-suite facilites & most hospitable proprietors.
The hotel was very busy but John squeezed an extra bed in the room for our 16yr old daughter.
Even though the inclusive breakfasts were not the full English breakfasts unless you paid extra, the continental breakfast was very good.
We ate in two of recommended pubs, The Long Arms in South Wraxal provided excellent and interesting home cooked food, and the restaurant in Kings Arms at Monkton Farleigh which was fabulous.
We ate breakfast both mornings and felt there was plenty to offer if you didn't have cooked breakfast (£4.
The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the lounge truly magnificent and If you enjoy a good breakfast, you won't be disappointed!
The local pub 'The Crown' was the place to eat, although the walk back up the hill was a killer after eating the wonderful food on offer.
Our kids (6 & 4) can often cause carnage wherever they go - often this is made worse by uptight hotel Managers, staff and customers.
Nothing was too much trouble for the owner and staff.
There is also food at The Crown Pub at the foot of the village, not quite up to the standard of The George, but honest grub and very welcoming staff.
The general theme of the previous reviews has been the excellence of the service and the charm of the hotel itself, and we can only concur.

Many of the best were designed by Nash, who also was responsible for the fine houses built for the gentry in the surrounding villages who were "taking the (spa) waters".
We travelled on our motorbike and had no problems parking it safely away from the road.
Just what we were looking for, a quiet place in a outstanding area to lay your head at the end of a days heavy duty sight seeing, everybody was helpful and welcoming, even the cat, the room was clean and fresh.
The room was spotless and the housekeeper very friendly with fresh cold milk provided for your tea and coffee whenever you come in from your travels.
Additionally their staff are very pleasant and helpful, the owners could not be more friendly, the rooms are spotless.
Additionally helpful staff, charming hosts and the room we stayed in 'Mulberry' was spacious and clean.
The bathroom is spotless and a good cooked breakfast is available for a little extra.
