My mother and I consider this to be one of the most pleasant hotels that we have stayed at and is certainly a value given its location within DC.
The location was fantastic and at that price point the hotel was great.
Interestingly, when researching hotels for a family visit to DC maybe 6 years ago, I had at that time settled on this same hotel, again for location and price reasons.
DC hotels are, of course, significantly more expensive across the board, and you are not paying top dollar at the Doubletree.
The location is great and the hotel is situated in a beautiful neighborhood.
Its location (1515 Rhode Island NW) is terribly located in terms of nearby restaurants.
Very well located and the hotel is in a great location.
The airport is so easy to get to on the Metro I would not take a cab.
One other nice feature of the area is that the Metro system has small buses that take you to Georgetown since no subway goes to Georgetown.
We had one 2 bedroom suite and a standard double-bed suite.

Rooms are set up similar to an Embassy Suites -- sleeping area with two double beds, separate living room and kitchen.
Rooms are large, well they are suites, with kitchens, dining area, desk, living room, and bedroom.
Fancy Italian restaurant across the street; the front desk has a list of full service restaurants in easy walking distance and was happy to give us directions to Wendy's/Quizno's when we said we wanted to get something quickly.
The location is great with many restaurants within a few blocks, a 24 hour CVS, and a Caribou Coffee for breakfast and free wi-fi on the same block.
We usually ate breakfast and lunch in our room - after visiting Trader Joe's about 3 blocks away.
We could prepare a big breakfast, eat lunch out and several evenings we prepared dinner in the suite too.
It saved a lot of money to be able to fix breakfast in the room - next time, we'll fix lunch too and take it with us.
The engineer/room service waiter told us there was a recent change in management and that most of the staff left along with the management transition.
The maid service is the only weak spot we noticed; sometimes the dishes weren't washed or the coffee/tea/soap supplies weren't replaced, but when we called the front desk, they were always apologetic and got the requested items to us very rapidly.
Clean refrigerator, a very good choice for us and pool a little too cool.
Although we were not interested in the pool, it would have been nice to walk out on the roof to see the view.
Housekeeping could be improved - they forgot to leave towels, light bulbs were burned out, and didn't fold up the sofabed.
It's $10/day for wireless -- no ethernet available.
On the down side, there was no internet access unless you brought a laptop & paid for wi-fi, the kitchen was not well-stocked (e.
The room was clean and the kitchen was convenient.
The room was on the 8th Floor, quiet, clean, & comfortable.
Location is convenient to Metro, the hotel is great and the rooms are spacious and clean.
