  Friendly staff, and good cookies. Breakfast was too expensive, but smelled great.

  The hotel is very clean and our room was spacious and comfortable. Pool was lovely, with plenty of clean towels poolside. We didn't eat in the hotel, as the cost of two coffees and two beers suggested we could get better value elsewhere, but would happily stay at this hotel if and when we visit San Diego again. The one thing we would have liked was a small fridge in the room.

  Staff was curtious, free warm welcome chocolate chip cookies,. Room was basic - 2 queens, desk, dressor, 27" TV, w payperview movies and wireless game controller. I would recommend this especially on weekends as it is a business hotel and fairly quiet and easy to get rooms.

  The rooms are honestly comparable to any room at another 4 star hotel including to stays I have had at the Hyatt and Hilton. I could tell the room I stayed in had all the standard newly renovated features including new furniture and a more modern feeling all around. I would not say the location is the best to where you can walk to local attractions although it is very conveniently located near the 5 freeway which is a good outlet for getting around. Nothing really negative to say about the Doubletree in San Diego/Del Mar aside from the need for more or better serviced elevators. I stayed on the 5th floor(also the top floor) and it took about 5 minutes at one point just for the elevator to reach the top floor and go down to the lobby. The elevator really seemed overused and it showed definite signs of depreciation.

  The check-in staff were incredibly courteous even though it was late when I checked in and I received a warm chocolate chip cookie. The room was clean and nice, with a great pool view. The bed was soft and comfy and I appreciated the Neutrogena products. Oh, and I appreciated the free WiFi in the lobby as well as the free printing and computer usage in the business center since my husband always brings his laptop.

  Room was fine with good bed, nice bathroom and decent amenities. My only complaint is that I could hear the person next door talking on the phone through the connecting door. And, with the window open, I could clearly hear the freeway.

  There was a little bit of a wait but the clerk was friendly upon check-in. I asked for a room on a high floor that was quiet. I was given Room 355 which is down a long hallway and with a view of the business park and the 56 freeway. I could hear car noise when sitting near the window. So the clerk was friendly but really did not honor my request.

  The hotel is located near the 5 and 56 freeways so its very convenient to alot of tourist locations like Torrey Pines State Park. They have a gift shop right next to the front desk that sells soda and munchies. Down the first floor hallway was the pool area, fitness center, and business center. The pool area was nicely designed although one hears traffic from the 5 and 56 freeways.

  The Doubletree rooms were well kept and maintained, the beds are wonderful! We sat in the hot tub almost every night, not many takers in late December for an outdoor hot tub, but it was warm and clean.

  Very nice pool and workout facilities.

  Only minor complaint is there is a lot of traffic noise sitting by the pool as it is very near a couple of busy roads.
