The Domstern Hotel is in a wonderful location.

The hotel's location was also pretty convenient, being a couple of hundred metres from the main station without being on the busy main roads.

The location is good as it is only 5 minutes away from the train station.

The location is excellent, no more than 5 minutes on foot from the main railway station (though watch out if you take Maximinienstrasse, where a section of the pavement is missing at present due to the construction of a metro station).

We could go everywhere in central Cologne from here on foot without thinking about needing public transport or taxis.

The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable.

Another nice touch was the small piece of complimentary candy which the housekeeping service left on the bed each day – on the first day, German “Gummi-bears”, on the second day a small piece of chocolate.

Exceptionally clean and quiet with the most comfortable bed and pillow of our entire trip.

There was also a refrigerator in each room, but no “mini-bar” in it, which was a nice touch, we thought – the refrigerator as a service to the guests, with no obligations, rather than as a vehicle for selling drinks at extortionate prices.

There was a free-standing closet with the TV set placed on top of it, and a small desk in each room.

The promenade along the Rhine is a few blocks to the east, and if you walk two blocks west you will find plenty of local shops and a selection of restaurants ranging from moderate to fairly expensive along Eigelstein and Marzellenstrasse.

Breakfast was very good, offering plenty of choice, and the breakfast area is pleasant.

On the square around Eigelsteintor, the old city gate, there is a lively and interesting evening scene with several restaurants and bars.

The breakfast buffet in the morning was very nicely presented.

The included breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Finally, the staff were very friendly, spoke impeccable English and were helpful in recommending tourist attractions and places to eat/drink.

The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel until we left.

The staff were excellent, they were welcoming and very helpful,nothing was too much trouble.

We had to email the hotel prior to our visit because the front desk closes at 11pm and we did not arrive until midnight.

The owners/staff could not have been more helpful during our stay, providing us with maps and information about places to see and the best routes to get there.

The reception area is not large but feels generous, there are armchairs where you can sit down and browse through the hotels own collection of books about Cologne as well as the regular tourist information brochures on the desk.

There is an elevator in the hotel, so you do not have to use the winding staircase.

The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean.

The hotel itself is spotlessly clean with comfy beds and a lovely breakfast.

We had two double rooms on the second floor, both of them facing Domstrasse, and everything was spotlessly clean.

The rooms were somewhat small but well planned, with a clean, simple and very unpretentious design, and they worked well for two persons.

Well located and proximity to the central station. Hotel small and friendly, the location would have been good without the nearby major building works, the reception team couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms are fantastic and tea are excellent.

The amazing location, 2 minutes walk from the central train station and the street that is located on is quiet. This is a lovely hotel, they had gone out of their way to provide some home made bread and the lobby is simple. Service is excellent and the employees are very nice and welcoming. The rooms are clean, the breakfast buffet is fresh and local honey &farm produce &beverage availability The ever helpful staff.

The location was brilliant and was near to the station. Hotel staff were fantastic, the food at breakfast was exceptional - most of locally sourced or even home made and each day's menu was based on a different country theme. Reception were extremely helpful and also loved the sweet left on my bed every day. The buffet itself was superb.

Just outside of center and train station so very convenient. Comfortable little hotel and extensive and varied buffet breakfast including home made bread. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were great and quiet. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent, the menu was well thought out and local interests was informative and interesting.

Central railway station and the breakfasts were themed - each day being from a different country. The location was excellent and we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Domstern the staff were very friendly and helpful. Home made butter, service at the front desk was prompt and our room was a good size.

Finding the Central Train Station and in a quiet street. Moreover good location, the relaxed atmosphere and home made products including butter. The staff was friendly, the rooms were very nice and comfortable and clean, we enjoyed the delicious breakfasts.

Absolutely quiet street, good location and the staff of the hotel is very helpful. The bed is comfortable and an amazing coffee machine produced delicious coffee.

Inspired by a different European country each morning, availability of good local restaurants in the walking distance and the area is very quiet. Hotel itself is very clean, the staff are friendly and nice breakfast room we could talk. The automatic coffee/hot chocolate maker is fantastic.

The themed breakfasts features homemade foods from different countries and quiet location. Hotel was clean and the home made breads were delicious. The staff were excellent, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable.
