Conveniently located within walking distance to shops, making it easy to explore the area. The friendly staff provided good directions and a warm welcome. The clean room and great choices for breakfast were enjoyable. Despite some minor flaws, the hotel overall exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.

I liked the scenic location and the food from the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful - this always makes a stay pleasant if staff have a nice attitude like these ones did. Room was quite spacious.

My room (40) could have done with a make over as it was a bit shabby but I think renovations were underway on the neighboring rooms. Old and small TV.

Since there was a corporate event at the restaurant there was no parking because there is no designated parking for hotel guests. Fridge did not work

I had a great stay at this hotel, with its excellent location and good value for money. The staff were friendly and check-in was quick and easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a queen size bed that ensured a hassle-free sleep. The hotel also offered a buffet breakfast, which included a variety of fruit, cereal, and fruit juices.

No air conditioning in the room made it uncomfortably hot.

The one teaspoon was very dirty, as if it was used for hot chocolate. So not sure how clean the other items were. The fridge was turned off, and I had to turn it on. There were no ice trays in the room, so I went to the reception asking for ice. She was very friendly and within minutes brought me one glass with a few pieces of ice in it. The ice also looked "old" as if it was in a freezer for ages, rather than fresh out of an ice machine.

We loved how close the Settler Hotel is to everything. After a big day out around Whangarei it was great to retreat back to the hotel crack open a wine, flick on sky movies, put our feet up and just relax. Our rooms were in very modern, very clean, fresh and in quiet surrounding and we must mention the wonderful staff. 10/10

The hotel had spacious rooms with comfortable beds. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was great as it was easy to walk into the town basin along the river. Additionally, there was plenty of off-street parking available.

The location was handy to Whangerai's attractions.

The room we had was way past it's use by. It needed a total refurbishment. Very disappointing.
