Overall, I can report that I booked the stay with Booked.net and was very happy with the result - the hotel was a pleasant surprise and an excellent value.
So it's a bit on the pricey side, though for a city hotel the price seemed about right to me.
I thought the River Cafe was a good value for a hotel restaurant.
If I had paid the regular rates, I would have felt the hotel was overpriced.
Amazing location - The hotel is located at the entrance of the Windsor/USA.
I didn't eat in the restaurants or get room service, but I would stay again because it's a Marriott (and I need the points) and it's a good location next to the People Mover, which takes you all over downtown for 50 cents.
THe location is on the river, close to Greektown, Cobo Center, and the athletic fields.
The scariest part of my visit was the need to get a taxi for the airport.
I didn't have a car so I can't speak to the frustrations of parking, but the area did seem crowded when I pulled up on a taxi.
Comfy King bed and sheets, flat panel TV, Large floor to ceiling windows, and plenty of room in the bathroom.
The room was beautiful and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in in a hotel.
The room included a huge L-shaped work station, a comfortable arm chair with ottoman, and a very comfortable bed with lots of pillow choices.
The view is very tranquil, amazing location - The hotel is located at the entrance of the Windsor/USA and the positives for the room are the very comfortable bed.
The room itself was average but the view overlooking the river in to canada from the 60th floor was breathtaking and the bed was awesome.
We were there on a Sunday night, so none of the restaurants in the Renaissance Center were open, just the hotel restaurant and bar.
If your room rate doesn't include breakfast, then there a plenty of places to eat in the basement food court, plus a Starbucks and another similar coffee shop - all going to be much cheaper than the hotel meal.
We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and purchased one thing in the hotel shop.
None of the shops or restaurants were open, even the hotel bar was closed.
This is in addition to the restaurants/bar located on the property.
The service employes(caters, housekeeping staff, security and concierge were wonderful!
However, the direct hotel staff (front desk, concierge, etc) were professional and friendly, and food served for our convention was delicious.
I was also billed for internet service I did not use, but thankfully some very kind staff took care of that for me that next morning.
Well the location was great within the GM corporate headquarters in downtown Detroit, the riverview the food was very good-the hotel staff was friendly and the front desk was excellent.
The hotel has a entrance lobby on the first floor on the south side of the building for valet parking and an elevator to the third floor where the hotel main lobby was.
You have to go up the very crowded and slow elevators to the main lobby two floors up.
While hauling my luggage into the hotel I discovered you could skip the lobby elevators and go through unmarked doors to the left, straight into Renaissance Center and then take the hotel elevators up to your room floor.
Also the rooms are spotless and towels have all been clean.
The room was ample size, and was very clean and comfortable.
The rooms were clean, the elevators were very fast and the food court was a nice touch for a quick in.
Our stay was great, the staff was courteous and the room was clean.
It was clean, well equipped but it was very small & with 2 double beds felt very cramped.
