Danubius Hotel Gellert Budapest - 布达佩斯

The thermal baths are on the cover of almost evey guide book, and being situated right on the Danube you can't wish for a better location.

Being situated right on the Danube you can't wish for a better location, i think this is for sure the best hotel in Budapest and the staff in the Brasserie is great.

The location, while dazzling for those with Danube views, is not as close to the centre or to Castle Hill as it appears, and the tram system is something that requires some skill to master.

Hotel is about 45 mins transfer by taxi from the airport, and this cost?

Budapest itself was very safe and we took the local buses, underground train and walked around the city at all times of the day without ever feeling threatened.

The room was large with entry "hall" and a large bed room and bath with shower, tub and heated towel rack.

The other couple we were travelling with had the smallest double bed I have ever seen to share in their room.

They gave me the room No 436 which was gloomy , scaled doors and furnitures, craky bed ,no soundproof and so smelly (like a cesspool ).

The famous spas do not dissapoint, from leaving your room in the hotel supplied robes, to being transported via a ninety year old lift by an elderly lady and ushered through into the baths.

The public areas more than made up for any shabbiness in the room: I spent hours at the baths gazing at the architecture and wallowing in the water, and the whole building is delightful.

The small bar is well stocked and pleasant, the breakfast buffet is one.

The range of food available for breakfast was very large and varied and the food in the restaurant fine, if nothing exceptional.

I also didn't see any window screens here and found several gnats/bugs dead on the white tablecloths of the restaurant while having breakfast.

Frankly, I always end up eating so much at breakfast that I don't want any lunch.

We had lunch at the coffee shop one day, which was pleasant, and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Concierge on the door were lovely as were reception staff.

In addition, all members of the front desk staff, doormen and concierges speak perfect English.

Above all the spa area was great and the hotel staff were excellent - that included front desk.

The staff are very Hungarian: the reception staff were pleasant and efficient, but could be a bit sardonic (which we liked).

Guests had their own robes and had special access to the spa with a private elevator lift.

We went to this hotel following a recommendation from my brother who really enjoyed the spa and wave pool at the hotel.

The spa and swimming pool areas are open to the locals and there were many rules.

They were small rooms but were clean and tidy and were serviced a couple of times per day.

Had a large, clean room and a balcony over the Donau.

Nice and big, clean, with comfortable sofa and chairs, very comfortable beds and a lovely view of the river.

Overall, the Hotel Gellert has a lot of character and history and all of the areas that we saw, including our room, were very clean and nice.

Additionally rooms are clean, access to the famous gellart spa.
