I think the biggest problem with the Crown Reef is that people pay a lot of money, over $200 a night and expect a 5 star hotel, that is not what it is.
It is a nice beach hotel, if you get a deal you will love it, if you pay full price you may be disappointed.
The hotel never informed us, just quietly took our money.
Better for around the same price, the hotel is near the south end of Ocean Blvd.
The location was great and the place was quiet for as many people were staying there.
The location is on the end and there seems less people on the beach there.
We stay here because we love the location and the large oceanfront balcony (I sometimes sleep on the balcony).
The only thing we did notice that was different from last year was that we seemed to be in the flight path from the airport.
Upon leaving, we found ourselves in the middle of an industrial complex and giant parking lot, NO WHERE near a street, and no taxis.
It had 2queen beds, a wall bed and a sofa bed-lots of room.
Our room had 2 Queen beds, a wall bed, and a couch bed with a full kitchen.
I had roaches in the room, could not get the room cleaned, they say there beds are queen size beds but are really a full size bed.
Our room had supposably been cleaned, there was smeared lipstick on the bathroom floor, sand in the bed.
King bed, Bath shower combo with a jacuzzi tub with mirrors all around it.
In one of the restaurants inside the hotel you could get a good breakfast or lunch for very cheap.
The barman in the lobby bar was also super nice and polite, as well as the young lady who ran the cash register in the breakfast and lunch diner on the lobby level.
The pools are not heated to a comfortable temperature, the restaurants are not open for all meals, the outdoor pool bar was not open, etc.
We didn't eat in the restaurants, but checked them out at breakfast time.
Just give one of my teen-age daughters a ten dollar bill and they come back with 4 breakfasts in about 15 minutes, sit at our table in the room, watch the ocean and have breakfast.
There was a problem with the elevators, but staff quickly came to our assistance and took us to our room via the service elevator, since we were on the 11th floor and the operating glass elevator only goes to 10.
Checking in was wonderful, the front desk reception area is beautiful and the clerks were friendly, we even received a free gift when we checked in.
The only negative issues I found to be true were the parking does stink and the elevators are very slow, but hey, I'm on vacation, after reading all those horrible reviews, I was tickled that this was the worst of our problems.
Parking was well lit and close to the elevator.
Parking was difficult to maneuver, but always available and only a short walk from the elevators.
Another amenity that we enjoyed was wireless internet connection throughout the hotel.
Oh, and did I mention that they do not have High-speed Internet!
Spent 3 nights during bike week, the rooms was clean and fresh.
The housekeeping staff was excellent at keeping that way and our room was very clean and comfortable.
The balconies are nice, the views are great, the rooms, as mentioned before, are clean, and we never had a problem with getting locked out.
Second day no one came to clean the room when we called housekeeping we were told we had to wait till 4pm.
They said they would clean and deordorize the room and when we arrived you could not even tell that the room was smoking.
