Beautiful setting in a very quiet country location. Mostly you could only hear birdsong. The pool / Jacuzzi setting is beautiful. Just to lie and watch the swifts dipping into the pool to drink whilst sipping your own! Evening mels good and vfair value
Nothing of real significance.

The hotel is located off a tarmac road yet is hidden in a secret valley, in stunning surroundings. It has been developed with relaxation in mind and manages to combine luxury with a feeling of intimacy, for example, there is a large lounge area with deep sofas and a range of art, design and cultural books to dip into. The cortijo has a beautiful pool and our bedroom was huge, with views of the mountains visible through the window and door to the balcony. The hotel provided a good buffet breakfast; evening meals were served on a candlelit terrace and were top class, being based on the Spanish cuisine of the region but with an interesting twist; as such they represented good value for money.

A lovely place to be. Tranquility, and an excellent pool. Very helpful and charming waiting staff, ditto front of house.
Our Deluxe Double Room, giving on to the courtyard, was too public. To maintain privacy we had to keep the shutters semi-closed most of the time, making it rather gloomy. The breakfast was surprisingly unimaginative, and exactly the same every morning.

The whole experience from arrival to leaving was delightful. We were made to feel most welcome throughout. The staff, whilst not imposing, were thoughtful and helpful. Our holiday was totally relaxing which was our aim from the outset. The food was excellent throughout the day and perfectly complimented our holiday. A wonderful experience and we intend to visit again in the future.
Perfection!

The welcoming could be better. If the offer you a drink it would be more plesant and you woyld feel more welcome and it woould be worth 5 stars in my opinion. But this is just a detail to make it even more better.

This is a very nice hotel where the owners pay attention to continuously improve it. It is nicely located in a nature reserve amongst thousands of olive trees. Rooms are spacious, well designed, superb beds, good bathrooms. Nice pool and whirlpool (bogh not heated). It is true that it is somewhat remote, but actually it is only a one hour drive to Malaga, Granada and Cordoba and can therfore serve as a basis and a quiet place compared to those cities. Room rates are low compared to the luxury (breakfast included). A hotel which is one to have on the shortlist.
Pool is not heated so swimming in autumn or spring can be cold.

We booked a superior double and the room was very large. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view overlooked the courtyard, the olive groves and surrounding hills. There was a good choice at breakfast - meats, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, etc. The large pool was an added bonus. And the sangria was fantastic! We both agreed that Cortijo la Prensa was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip.
The hotel is situated in the countryside not far from Rute but you will need a car. The hotel building itself is quite close to the country road and, while there is almost no traffic on the road, our wakeup call (if you will) were the local farmers driving by on their tractors at around 8 am each morning. This was not an issue for us but might be for some.
